Helen D. Annis ~ August 7, 2023

Livonia, NY: At age 95, Helen passed peacefully on August 7, 2023 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia. She was born on January 12, 1928 in Honeoye Falls, NY to the late Ralph and Anna (Mattern) DeCamp. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Wilbert “Bill” Annis. Survived by daughters; Linda (Charles White) Burley of Avon, Karen (Larry) VanNorman of Livonia, and Laurie (David) Brown of Lima; grandchildren, Ben Gorton, Tracey Kingsley, Carriann (Scott) Mackin, Brenna (Michael Lembaris) VanNorman, Dustin Burley, Shannon VanNorman, and Jesse Burley; great- grandchildren, Jessica, Adara, Liam, Orin, Kolby, Cologaro, Kayde, and Amara; and several nieces and nephews.

After high school and junior college, Helen was employed doing clerical work.  She was great with numbers and never trusted calculators, always adding everything long hand.  After marrying Bill, she became a hard working farmer’s wife, preparing hardy meals for family and the hired hands, tending gardens and keeping house.  Helen was a season ticket holder to the RPO, an avid bird watcher, and she loved her sweets, especially cookies, ice cream and chocolate.  She collected some great cookie recipes and always had two varieties on hand.  She was active in the community and the South Livonia Church, being the first “pie lady” at the turkey dinners.  The farm was lost to a fire when Helen was pregnant with her third daughter.  Construction began on a new home and Helen returned to the work force.  She had many jobs through the years, starting with the Conesus Lake Nursing Home, and Sweeney’s Insurance Agency, and later Ames Department Store, Oneida Winery, Sears, and the Town of Livonia.  She always enjoyed working at the Election Board.  Helen never flew in a plane but did go on a hot air balloon ride!  They travelled to Florida and Boston to visit relatives.  Helen was an avid reader, murder mysteries being her favorite.  She would get through a novel in a day, often staying up all night to finish it.    She lived alone for a short time after Bill’s passing.  After several unfortunate falls,  She moved to Morgan Estates and then to Conesus Lake Nursing Home where she lived for the past 10 plus years.

The family would like to thank the staff at the nursing home for the loving and compassionate care they gave Helen.
