Gordon B. Kidder ~ June 15, 2023

Conesus, NY: At age 91, Gordon passed peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 15, 2023. Gordy was born on December 29, 1931 in Girard, Pennsylvania. He was predeceased by his father Raymond Kidder, mother Helene (Van Tassel) Ziegler, step-father Hans Ziegler, and siblings, Bill Ziegler, and Janet O’Lone. Survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Audrey (Johnson) Kidder and children: G. Christopher Kidder of Lake Luzerne, Ron (Kim) Kidder of Fairport, and Jill Kidder (Phil Zink) of Branford, CT; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Kidder, Amanda Kidder, Sean (Casey Mae) Kidder, and Casey Kidder; sister Judith Himes of FL; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Gordon attended East High School in Erie, PA where he was a standout athlete in football, track, and baseball. After serving in the US Army during the Korean War, Gordon earned a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from Edinboro State Teachers College where he also set records as a football player. He taught English at Bemus Point High School and coached their football team to an undefeated season in 1964.  After shifting his career to educational sales, Gordon moved with his family to Conesus, NY in 1969. His favorite hobbies were gardening and tending to his apple orchard, as well as traveling with Audrey and camping at many of the national parks across the country. Most important to Gordon was spending time with family and proudly watching all his children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, June 24th, from 10am-12noon at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 15 & 20A, Livonia, NY where Gordon’s Memorial Service will be held at 12noon, following calling hours, with military honors. Interment will take place privately. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Conesus Fire Department, 6073 S.     My sincere sympathy on your loss of my brother. He was very special to me as he was to all of you. I very much appreciated him and you Audrey to come to Erie when I visited there to see me. He lived a good full life, and I will cherish my memories of him.

  4. Gordon was a dedicated man – to his family, his country and his friends. My condolences to Audrey, Chris, Ron and Jill and his four grandkids. They are all remarkable people as was he.

  5. Sincerest condolences to Audrey and family. I remember my father, a nurseryman, knowing him from the apple orchard hobby. I have fond memories of the kids in school as well.
