Mt. Morris: At age 73, Gerald F. Antworth passed peacefully on December 28, 2022 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY. Jerry was born on September 18, 1949 in Mars Hill, Maine to the late Otis and Phyllis (Barnes) Antworth. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Sheila (Morabito) Antworth and daughters; Koreana (Derrick) Knox of Paris, Ontario, Canada, Janice (Andrew) Federico of Rochester, and Amber (Marcus) Warren of Cumberland, Rhode Island; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Roxanna (Conrad) Albert, Danny Antworth, and Rick (Lisa) Antworth; also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jerry considered Northern Maine his home, until recently moving to Mt. Morris, NY. It didn’t take much time for him to fall in love with Livingston County. He enjoyed the rolling hills and the fields, he quickly made a friend with anyone he came in contact with. You were always greeted with a smile and a handshake.
He enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening (inside and out), bird watching and collecting Cobalt Blue Glass. One of his favorite pastimes was mowing his lawn. He was very particular about the lawn, he knew there was a right way, a wrong way and “His way” to mow a lawn. When he was finished, he would take a deep breath and inhale the smell of the freshly cut grass.
Last year he bought 4 ducklings… he trained them to come and follow him. He enjoyed feeding and then sitting back and watching them swim in the pond. At times, folks didn’t know how to take him, he was such a jokester. He loved a good laugh, and if he could make you laugh right along with him – he was a success.
Jerry dearly loved his wife. They spent 52 years together. Dad/Papa wanted 6 children, though he only had 3 daughters, when they married he gained 3 sons.
Most importantly, his greatest love was serving Jesus Christ. He began his life worshiping the Lord and at the end of his life, as weak as he was, still worshiping the Lord. That was the greatest testimony he left for us.
