Piffard, NY: December 14, 2022 at age 65. Joanne was born on June 18, 1957 in Rochester, NY to the late Jack and Virginia (Rapp) McMullen. Survived by her husband of 33 years Richard “Dick” Ackerman; children, Sara (James) Simons of Mt. Morris and Eric (Stacy) Ackerman of NC; grandchildren, Gabe, Shae, and Quinn Simons and Skyler Ackerman; siblings, Jack (Laurie) McMullen, Lee (Jeannie) McMullen, Alan McMullen, Scott (Jean) McMullen, and Jeff (Susan) McMullen. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Joanne strived to achieve excellence in all she did. She played the violin and fiddle with pure joy and passion. She loved to be in the garden planting flowers and taking pictures. Joanne adored her pets and couldn’t wait for BarkBox day. Above all else, she loved her family.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, December 22nd, from 1pm-3pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 15 & 20A, Livonia, where Joanne’s Memorial Service will be held at 3pm, following calling hours. Interment will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Warplane Museum, PO Box 185, Geneseo, NY 14454. To Joanne’s Whole Family and Friends, I was shocked and sad to hear of Joanne’s passing.
It was always fun to play music with Joanne. I loved her sense of humor, and she was a kind-hearted woman, not to mention a great fiddler.
She will be missed by many, for sure. So sorry.

To Joanne’s beloved family, I am so sorry to hear of Joanne’s passing. I remember sitting next to Joanne, under the jam tent, at the fiddler’s fair. Joanne always came prepared, and ready to fiddle her heart out. It was fun and relaxing to jam along with her. Joanne will be missed at FOG.
