Conesus: At age 76, Christine passed away suddenly on Monday, September 12, 2022 at her home in Conesus, NY. She was born in Rochester, NY to the late Gerard and Jane Dittman. Christine is predeceased by her husband Raymond H. Walker, her sister Elaine Dittman and brother Jerry Dittman. Survived by her children; Tim (Milissa) Walker, Kristin (Adam) Jones, her grandchildren; Nikolas, Jamie, Sebastian, Justin and Sophie, her sisters; Linda (Arden) Barie, Elizabeth (Jose) Curet, Jane (Robert) Rohr, Deborah (Andrew) Bayley, and Mary Grace (Doug) Kramer, Brother-in-law Charles (June) Walker, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Chris attended SUNY Potsdam for a teaching degree and there she met, Ray, her loving husband of 29 years before his passing. Chris spent 26 years teaching both fourth grade and kindergarten at Livonia Primary.
A dedicated and tireless volunteer, Chris’ service to her parish, the Conesus United Church and neighborhood community is unmatched. As a member of many committees and organizations, she is best known for planning many dinners, events, and fundraisers. Chris’ community involvement did not go unnoticed as in 2012 she was honored as Senior Citizen of the Year for the Town of Conesus.
Chris was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She did her best to attend the many sporting events and concerts of her grandchildren often traveling many miles to be in the stands. Among her greatest joys were family vacations, especially those spent with the Walker family each summer, with the tradition lasting for 50 years. Chris will be remembered as family-centered and as always available to support her large group of friends whether it was to recommend a book, provide a ride, deliver a meal or offer a compassionate word.
As per the family request, calling hours will be canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. However, Christine’s funeral service will still take place at 11AM on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the Conesus United Church, 6199 S. Livonia Road, Conesus, NY 14435. A luncheon will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Conesus United Church, PO Box 129, Conesus, NY 14435.

Sorry to hear the news. My daughter and I had attended church services with her at the Conesus United Church. She always praised my daughter. She was a nice woman, caring, loving, and so much more. Condolences to family and friends. Peace be with you now and for eternity.
I will miss visiting with Chris as we did a couple times per year for almost 20 years. She was full of life and always enjoyed sharing photos of her grandchildren and family. When people say “it takes a village” she is one of those people that you want in your village…a giver of herself! RIP Chris.
I have always liked Chris and I remember fondly our little bridge group we had a hundred years ago – Chris, Irene Dodsworth, Bunny Schneider, and I would get together for bridge. I’m not sure how much bridge was actually played, but we had a lot of fun.

Christine and her sisters and brother were a memorable part of our childhood. Both our fathers were very close and the families spent countless hours together. There were 5 kids in the Fred Dittman brood and 7 in the Jerry Dittman clan so there was always someone to play with, chat with, and explore the big house and yard on Pardee Road, on Long Acre Road, or the cottage on Lake Ontario. But the fun began when one or more of us finagled an overnight with our counterpart. Ellen remembers the overnights with Christine when we giggled, laughed, and shared preadolescent gossip throughout the night. Although we all eventually scattered to distant locales, the memories of those childhood gatherings remain a sweet reminder of the importance of family. We hope memories such as these bring you comfort too.

Marrying into the extended family Aunt Chris was one of my favorite people to visit. She had a sharp sense of right and wrong and an equally sharp sense of humor. She opened her home each thanksgiving to the whole family and made me (and I am sure many others) feel welcome from the first. I will deeply miss Aunt Chris. She was simply wonderful.
My deepest condolences to the family…I always loved meeting with Chris to talk about our preschoolers who would be going into kindergarten the next year. Her humor and understanding of the young child was so refreshing…she truly knew her craft of teaching and guiding children. Let the memories surround you and May God cover you with peace as the days move forward.
