Honeoye: At age 73, Wendy passed peacefully at her home on August 30, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born on August 11, 1949 in Rochester, NY to the late Gerald and Winifred (Pierson) Philipp. Survived by her husband of 51 years, Casper “Casey” Mantione; daughter Andrea (Mike) DaGama of Honeoye Falls and son Jason (Jennifer) Mantione of Honeoye; cherished grandchildren, Michael Jr., Alexandra, and Nicholas DaGama & Emily and Adelyn Mantione; siblings, David (Roz) Philipp, Linda Philipp, and Connie Weidel; brother-in-law Joseph (Beth) Mantione; also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends including close family friend John DaGama, and animal friends, Buck, Toby, and Smokey.
In her early years Wendy was a stay at home mom and avid 4-H leader. She transitioned to a professional career in computer programming and eventually retired from Xerox. Wendy spent many years breeding and raising horses and alpacas. She enjoyed riding horses; a few of her favorites were Goldie and Casperina. Wendy loved reading, sewing, knitting and crafting. She never passed up a drive in the car or a roadside stand! In her retirement, her favorite past time became spoiling her 5 grandchildren. Some of her favorite activities to do with her grandchildren were building legos, sewing, baking (especially Christmas cookies), scavenger hunts, watching them participate in their activities and sports and watching them ride their horses. She enjoyed taking her dog Buck for a run with her Kubota on her land and driving down to take care of her alpacas.
At Wendy’s request no formal funeral services will be held. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held in October. Contact Andrea (adagama1@aol.com) or Jason (mantionejason@gmail.com) for details.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to Mercy Flight, 2420 Brickyard Road, Canandaigua, NY 14424 or Begin Again Horse Rescue, PO Box 28, Honeoye, NY 14471. To send a condolence or share a memory please visit: www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com
