  1. Dear Uncle Vic & Cousins Connie, Lucy and Lynn —
We join you in sadness at Wayne’s passing, and we pray that your cherished memories of Wayne’s unique spirit, character, sense of humor and captivating conversations may also lift your spirits. I always looked forward to seeing Wayne, and hearing what he had to say about just about anything, as he always had a unique and unpredictable perspective, that was compelling and well thought out, and especially enjoyable if it ran counter to what everyone else thought!

I have so enjoyed the special time that I have spent with Wayne this fall and over the past several years. He called me a couple of weeks ago — since he doesn’t do text messages and I had sent him several — and we continued our great conversations about politics, golf courses, mechanical repairs, and he told me about his condition and the plans that he had made. His hopefulness and confidence gave me confidence as well!

Even though we connected recently primarily during funerals, Wayne found the time to have deep conversations and to make an impact in a great way. As you know, one never knew what Wayne might say or do next, but it sure was great fun and great learning to wait and listen and watch! I remember the looks of astonishment and fear on the faces of my kids when Wayne explained his self-administered bee sting treatments to his ankle, his back, his fingers or wherever he needed a dose of pain/numbing/healing! We all chose instead to enjoy the honey he brought, yet none of us has yet tried his medicinal bee sting treatments. Someday I may!

Wayne also explained to me the logic of his golf game and why he chooses to play “left handed” for the greater accuracy. He noted that right handers generally “over-push” with their strong arm, but can be more accurate and consistent using that arm for pulling (with left handed clubs). Maybe he is correct?

And I admit that I really didn’t grasp the extent of what he had done on his property with not just his bees and mechanical projects, but the landscaping, ponds, art works and an actual golf course visible on Google Earth! https://earth.google.com/web/@42.75325354,-77.70102598,363.50780814a,824.40403163d,35y,0.0032178h,2.41678021t,-0r

Wayne loved to make his own path — or his own golf course, and he can look down and smile at his creation! He will be greatly missed.

    Love,
Cousin Dan & Tray, Sayle, Tyler, Jackson, Jamie
