Laurel E. Grundman (Straight) ~ December 27, 2020

Honeoye:  At age 82, Laurel passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at her home in Honeoye.  She was born in Rochester, NY to the late John and Libbie Straight.  Survived by her beloved husband of 40 years; Harold Grundman, her children; Jeff (Becky) Briggs, Don (Linda) Briggs, Ken (Becky) Briggs, Cindi (Garth) Thomas, Karen Stephens, Nancy Titus, John (Melissa) Miles, her 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her siblings, John Straight, Robert Straight, Wallace Straight and Louise Straight. Laurel will be greatly missed.

As a mother of seven children, Laurel’s home was always filled with much love and affection. She would spend many of her days at her sewing machine creating beautiful pillows and quilts. She was gifted with both poetry and music, and she’d sing silly songs to her children and grandchildren to make them laugh. Everything in life would remind her of a song.  Laurel also loved nature; the trees and the flowers, and most particularly pretty yellow daffodils.

Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday, January 7th, from 2-5pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, 8624 Main Street, Honeoye, where Laurel’s Memorial Service will take place at 11am on Friday, January 8th.  A committal service will take place in the future at Richmond Center Cemetery on Richmond Center Road, Honeoye, NY.  Memorial Contributions may be made to The Arbor Day Foundation, 211 N. 12th Street, Lincoln, NE 68508 or https://shop.arborday.org/donations.  To share a memory or a condolence, please visit:  www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

  4. I am very sorry to hear of Laurel’s passing. I visited her & (Uncle) Harold at the farm house several times. Even though it was always a drop in visit Laurel was very friendly & hospitable with long chats. I enjoyed seeing her sewing projects & have a quilt that she made. She was a special person & I’m happy to have known her even for a short time.
