Following school, Joe worked at Eastman Kodak Company in the Roll Coating Department, eventually becoming foreman, and staying at Kodak for 35 years. Joe fought in WWII, serving in Okinawa and Alaska for the United States Army. He played 3rd base on the US Army team during his service

In the summer of 2019, Joe was granted a wish to hit a baseball again, and thus, at the Rochester Red Wing game, on July 13th, he was pitched 25 balls and hit many, one to third base. He was given a Veteran’s standing ovation for his military service at the game. Most of his family came as well as residents of Quail Summit to cheer him on. In recent years, Joe was a big part of his great grandchildren’s lives, all 19, as well being known as “Papa Joe”.

Uncle Joe is now my special angel. The years in Florida with mom and dad, Aunt Stelle and Uncle Joe, were filled with laughter and love. I miss you, Joe, but will continue to pray for you and my cousins. May you watch over us and help us follow your examples of love and faith.
Loved Joe, and his flowers! Will always remember his chilli at St. Mary’s garage sale! God Bless Joe, KFC Rest in Peace.
Joe was one of a kind and you always knew when he was in the room! Enjoyed his stories about his hunting and wine making adventures, among others. A loving family man-the epitome of a life well lived. Condolences to his large family and many close friends. We will miss you, Joe. Much love, Vince and Maggi Masci
Peggy..so sorry to hear about your dad’d death. I have so many fond memories of being at your house, swimming in the pool and kidding around with “Mr. Dober”…the name I called your dad. i do not remember what he called me…maybe Cathy..it was always in great fun. How lucky you were to have your dad for so many years. I loved the story about hitting the baseball at Red Wing Stadium. Must have been a great night.
We’re so sorry for the loss of the Bader patriarch. He was a wonderful man, even though I only met him a few times. He was always smiling, jovial, sweet. He is leaving a wonderful Legacy. Blessings and prayers of comfort for all the Bader family and in-laws.
To the Bader family, Amy and I are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Joe but then again we can only hope that we live a long and healthy life like Joe. He was such an icon to both St. Mary’s church, the Honeoye community as well as a dear friend to the Belmont family.. Rest assured your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. God bless to you all.
