Honeoye Falls/Rochester: September 5, 1928 – February 23, 2019. Ariadne Barbara Alter Lydon (“Nan”) passed peacefully on February 23rd, surrounded by loved ones in her apartment at the Jewish Home of Rochester. Nan is survived by all of her children, Barry Lerner, Marcy Lerner, Kenny Lerner, Christine Lydon, and Jeff Lydon; by her grandchildren, Andrew Samel, Nate Lerner, Jennifer Samel, Jamie Lerner, Evan Lydon, Morgan Lydon, and Finn Lydon; by her son-in-law, Jon Samel, and her daughters-in-law, Ann Lerner, Miriam Lerner, and Sarah Lydon; and by many friends, including those she made at the Jewish Home who took such good care of her in her final years.
Memorial services have yet to be arranged, and information will be posted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Nan to the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, Lollypop Farm.
Nan was a mother to the core, not only to her children, but to the happiest dogs and cats that ever lived. Small things made her happy, and she laughed so easily and so well. We will miss her deeply. Nan’s favorite verse, from Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass, is a fitting farewell: “The untold want by life and land ne’er granted, / Now voyager, sail thou forth to seek and find.”

Barry, Marcy & Kenny,
Your Mom’s life and personality touched the Guyer Family in so many ways. She was so connected to my mother “Vi”, and we to the Lerner family. Our very best wishes in this sad time.
