James F. Volpe ~ July 20, 2018

Canadice: 12/20/01913 – 7/20/2018- Jim passed peacefully after a glorious 104 years and 6 months. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia. Grandchildren; Lauren (Karl) Tracy, Juliet (Aaron) Hildreth, Erin (Gary) Cratsley, Peter Poten. Great Grandchildren; Justin (Nora) Hildreth, Kyle (Michelle) Hildreth, Michael (Alisha) Swingle, Ben Cratsley, and Ian Poten. Great Great Grandchildren, Noah, Austin, Trystin, Jack, Ryan, Reagan Hildreth and Camden Swingle. Additionally, his furry friends, Cayuga and the late Seneca & many family and friends.

He loved his family, God and his country. He was always Captain of his ship. He was an avid golfer and ballroom dancer. He loved to travel and loved to see the world. He was very influential to all of his family, friends, and business partners who loved him dearly. He had an amazing sense of humor and he was a maverick of his time.

The family will be holding private services. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s Memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN 38105, Disabled American Veterans, 465 Westfall Rd, Rochester, NY 14620, and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)

  1. My uncle Jim was one of the first Moderen car dealers in Monroe County, first with Cuberland Nash in the late 40’s then with Volpe Motors on east Main Street during the 60’,70’s and 80’s. Successful in numerous business dealings was a highly respected man of his time and generation. To have achived so much comming as he did from such humble beginnings is a testament to the strength of his will and character.

  2. JIM will be greatly missed, such a smart man and the stories he would tell..loved how he would sing to me. May he Rest In Peace, our condolences to Ginny and his family. And of course his little buddy koo-koo.
