Kristine Smith “Kris” – June 16, 2018

Livonia/Henrietta: Kris passed peacefully, with family by her side, on June 16, 2018 at age 71. Predeceased by her parents Walter & Mary Lou Quetchenbach and her sister Kim. Survived by her loving husband Gary E. Smith and sons; Rich (Jennifer) Smith of MS and Dave (Jennifer) Smith of Livonia; grandchildren, Carrie, Olivia, and Alex Smith; brother Eric (Wendy) Quetchenbach and sister Susan. Also survived by nieces & nephews and several dear friends. “She was the most loving and forgiving wife that a man could ever hope to have.”

Kris was born on January 24, 1947 in Rochester, New York. She went to school at St. Agnes and graduated cum laude. Later she attended SUNY Brockport and graduated in 1969. She married Gary in 1968 and lived in Spencerport for five years before moving to Henrietta to start a family. She taught at various catholic grammar schools and held several jobs in retail, tax preparation with H & R Block, and the home health care industry. In 2011 she moved out to Livonia to live close to her local son and his family. She enjoyed pleasant afternoons on her deck watching the deer scamper through the yard and her grandchildren play across the street. Kris was dearly loved and will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her warm smile, big heart, and the way she brightened her family and friends’ lives will be greatly missed.

A Gathering to Celebrate Kris’s Life will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the World Wildlife Fund, 1250 24th Street NW, Washington, DC 20037. To send a condolence or share a memory please visit: www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

  1. Gary and family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Kris many years ago at Sibley’s Budget Store at Southtown. She always brightened my day and we shared a lot of laughs. She was one of a kind, for sure. Hope you are comforted by great memories.
