Henrietta/Rochester: Larry Coakley passed away peacefully on May 7, 2018 at 71 years old. He was predeceased by his parents Daniel and Pauline Coakley and brother Kenneth. He is survived by his sisters; Barbara (John) Shoemaker, Mary (Mark) Knapp; brothers, David, Robert (Joy), Thomas, and John (Michele). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins; his Aunt Mary, his Aunt Ruth, and his longtime friend John.
During his younger years, Larry lived a life of wanderlust while traveling all over the U.S. dabbling in an array of colorful jobs. At age 31, he joined the Army where his tours of duty took him to Central America and beyond. As a result, Larry was fluent in many languages, with Spanish being his specialty.
An enigma of a man, a conversation with Larry was always multifaceted, profound, or entertaining as his depth of knowledge was endless and his recall amazing. We will dearly miss those chats.
No prior calling. A private family service will be held at a future date at the Maplewood Cemetery in Henrietta, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Teresa House, 21 Highland Road, Geneseo, NY 14454. To send a condolence or share a memory please visit: www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com
My condolences to the Coakley’ family. I am so sorry I missed this one. Even though I only saw Larry a few times at their house on conesus lake, he was a very nice and funny guy. I hope I can make any future service you have for Larry.
We had some crazy times as younger folk in Henrietta and Rochester -and it was always more fun when Larry was involved. In the late 60s we both got to live our dream of being on the radio. Larry decided that there was something else out there for him-and I know I speak for his many friends and fellow classmates in our wishes that he found what he was looking for-and needed while in this world. May his spirit live forever.
I was so sorry to hear about Larry.
Larry and I both grew up on Clay Road in Henrietta, were the same age and grade and rode the bus together for so many fun years.
How I loved Larry.
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
With sympathy and tears

Dear Mary,
Sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Larry but I know you thought a lot of your brother and I know he thought a lot of his Mary Beth. You told me how Larry would tell you cool stories of his awesome adventures throughout his life and towards the end he look at you as someone who he count on. You were his angel. His body is at rest and his soul with God but his memories will always be with you.
Love, Wendall
My condolences to all who love and will miss him. May he rest in peace.

Prayers for all the family.
I don’t know what to say. Larry was always there when I needed him. He had me laughing when all I wanted to do was cry. He had a heart of gold; a shoulder to lean on; ears that would listen; love for his family and friends. He was a person that once you met, you could never forget. Larry you were loved! God Bless you.
I was honored to help care for Larry during his time at Teresa House. He was fascinating, funny, his moods were ephemeral, and conversations flowed with many fascinating currents and side-channels. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, and I count myself as lucky to have met him before he entered his eternal rest. RIP, friend.
I remember Larry fondly from when we were young teenagers. We had a lot of fun! So sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family & friends.
