Marie B. Verschage (Vollinger) – April 18, 2018

Avon/Rush: Peacefully on April 18, 2018 at age 94, surrounded by family. Predeceased by her husband John and son Timothy. Survived by children; John, Mary Ann (Francis) D’Agostino, David (Linda), Marjorie Tubbs, Raymond (Donna), Thomas (Judy), Susanna Cady, Robert (Julie), Daniel (Cindy), Corie Bloom and James (Betsy); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, recently a great-great grandchild and many nieces & nephews.

Marie was a devoted catholic, wife, and mother. One of her proudest accomplishments was raising twelve children. After all had entered their early school years, she then began her work career. She worked several years at Birds Eye in Avon. When the opportunity arose, she then went to work for Bauch & Lomb in Rochester as a machine operator; again for many years until she retired. Even after her retirement, she assisted her daughter in her licensed child care business to nurture and care for the children. Many of whom came to love, cherish, and called her grandma. She also enjoyed the company of family, friends and sharing old stories. Marie will be remembered for being a kind and humble woman; often putting others needs before her own.

Marie’s Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 27th, 11am at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 96 Prospect St., Avon, NY 14414. Burial St. Agnes Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Marie’s Memory to St. Agnes Church at the address above. To send a condolence or share a memory please visit: www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com
