  1. So sorry to hear about Shirley’s passing. She was so full of life and always friendly. I’ll miss seeing her at the Post Office and around town.

  2. Just heard about Shirley’s passing. What a huge loss. “She loved a good debate” was Shirley. She was no nonsense, but was a marshmallow when it came to the kids in her classes. I’ll miss her sense of humor, her gardening and her grace.

  3. I’m so very saddened by this news. Shirley had a special gift of making everyone feel loved. My deepest sympathy to John, Joanne and the Holler family.

  4. Shirley was a kind, loving person who made a positive impact in the community in which she lived. Shirley will always be remembered for her help and loving attitude toward others. May you find peace in the love and caring that people found in Shirley. She was loved and will be missed by many, many people.

  5. Shirley was one of a kind and I was so blessed to have forged a great friendship with my “neighbor “ who became my role model, my local mom, and dear friend. So many adjectives come to mind to describe Shirley. Passionate, loving, supportive , informed, hard working, incredible gardener, feisty, caring and to be honest… somewhat adoringly opinionated. She loved to debate and question. Most of all, she loved her family and was so proud of their achievements. My tears have yet to stop flowing and her spirit will stay with me to the end of my days. Love you, Lady. Kathy

  6. Shirley was such a good friend to Gary and me. We had wonderful discussions at the Livonia Center Store with Dick and Shirley, while Janet cooked us breakfast. We always talked about our “ kids”. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We will miss her a lot, but Dick has a great big grin on his face!

  7. Shirley Holler was a very special person. When my mom moved to Livonia about ten years ago she started to go over to Shelby’s Restaurant for dinner on Friday nights. That is where she met Shirley. My mom was kind of quiet and didn’t know any one in town except me, but Shirley quickly and lovingly took her under her wing. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

  8. Shirley was a awesome special teacher in high school, she will be greatly missed. My deepest sorrow for the loss of a loved one R.I.P. Mrs Holler.

  9. Shirley was one of those rare individuals who made you want to “lean in”. She had a bubbly personality highlighted by a quick wit and a strong belief that she could make a difference in the lives of others. She certainly made a huge difference in the lives of the students, faculty, and staff at Livonia’s Middle and Intermediate School. She had a knack for reaching out to students who needed that extra show of love and compassion while holding them accountable. We were all fortunate to have been in Shirley’s life and her impact on others has been extraordinary. Shirley’s beautiful gardens reflected the care and love that she demonstrated to those around her. She was “one of a kind” and will be greatly missed.

  10. Our thoughts and condolences are with the entire Holler family. Shirley was a lovely woman who was clearly endeared by so many. She will be missed dearlly and has definitely made a positive impact on us all. Always loved those fried eggs cooked in bacon grease!

  11. I’ve known Shirley for many years. She was an outstanding member of the Livonia community, cared about everyone, extremely hard working, and always set the right example. Beyond that, she was also a great customer at West’s. We will miss her, thoughts and prayers to your family.

  12. So sorry to learn of Shirley’s death. She was a hard worker around her home but always willing to stop and visit as I walked by. Shirley always chatted with Jeanne, our special needs daughter, inquiring about how she was doing. Jeanne and Shirley were friends from the Middle School. She will be missed. Blessings to all her family during this sad time.

  13. Shirley’s passing leaves a void not only the hearts of you, her family, but in the hearts of this community who came to know and love Shirley . I consider it an honor and privilege to have worked with her while teaching in the Middle School where her firm , yet unconditional love , touched the lives of so many young people. She was a master at what she accomplished in the field of education with her common sense, compassionate, and loving “lessons.” She held her “kids” at school responsible for their actions and yet taught respect successfully because she mirrored that respect for them. The beauty of her gardens and all that she volunteered for at Vitale Park reflected the beauty in her soul . You will be greatly missed, dear Shirley!

  14. I only knew Shirley for a few years . She was a good and friendly lady.my prayers are with the family .

  15. Shirley and Dick were such a wonderful couple who invited my very active 4 sons into their yard to enjoy the beauty of their gardens. We sat on the porch and chatted often. Shirley asked about my boys by name every time I saw her. Rest easy Shirley you are back with the love of your life. To her family you have given her love and support. Hold your memories close and allow them to sustain you in the days to come.

  16. This was such a shock. She will be greatly missed. Shirley was so good with the students at the Middle and Intermediate School. She was tough on the outside, with a heart of gold inside. Her students really respected her. She was always a wonderful gardener. She said it was her therapy – cheaper than a psychiatrist! We will remember you all in our prayers.
