Avon: Lee passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 after a year – long battle with cancer.
He leaves behind his wife, Cindy Martens-Pitts and their children, Joel Pitts and Bethany DeLuca. He is also survived by 2 daughters, Sonya Boatman and Krista Keller and families, and his brother, Leslie Pitts and family.
Lee served in the United States Coast Guard. He retired from Gleason Works after a 48 year career, in which he traveled all over the world. He enjoyed the outdoors: camping, sailing, and fishing and was a fixer of all things, except for our broken hearts.
There will be a private celebration of life.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at the Palliative Unit at Strong, where Lee and his family received wonderful compassionate care and support.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 E. Sand Rd. Port Clinton, Oh 43452. Lee loved his rescue dogs and they were such a comfort to him as he struggled with his illness. Arrangements entrusted to the Kevin W Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Livonia-Honeoye. With deepest sympathy to all of Lee’s family. I met Lee on my many visits from Gleason England to Gleason Rochester when I had the privilege and the honour to receive training and tuition from him when I found him to be patient, courteous and considerate, in fact a true gentleman! Rest in Peace Lee.
Dear Cindy & Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. May you find peace in knowing he is no longer in pain. Remember all the wonderful memories you made together. Until you meet again.

Very sorry to hear of Lee’s passing I knew him many years ago when he was a member of the East Avon Fire Department
Thinking of you all. I hope it brings you peace to know he is free of suffering. You all have your own special guardian angel. Much love to your family.
