Alice Marie Shumway (Wisse) – June 20, 2017

Honeoye: Born January 21, 1931 Marie dedicated her life to her family and her faith. She was a wonderful wife, mother, friend to many. Always thinking of others she was a talented artist and used her creative skills to sew hundreds of personal gifts for those close to her. She was a familiar face to many in Honeoye through her years of working at the US Post Office. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Leonard J. Shumway, whom she married in Honolulu, Hawaii on February 14th, 1951. Together they raised their five children Michael (Mary Ann), Spencer (Mechele), Bridget (David Seconi), Matthew (Nadine) and Careen. Marie came up with the idea of the annual “unbirthday party” as a way to bring all eleven of her precious grandchildren together at the same time. She will be greatly missed by Allison (Donnie Mueller) & Michael (Jenna Goldstein) Shumway, Justin (Sarah Coldwell), Matteo & David Spencer Seconi, Zachary, Linnea, Joshua & Samantha Shumway, and Rafael and Marie Barreto. Bringing additional joy to her life was great-grandaughter Hazel Anne Seconi. In addition to her immediate family she leaves a sister in law, Diana Beisheim and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call Sunday, June 25th, from 3-6pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 8624 Main Street, Rte 20A, Honeoye, NY. Marie’s Funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 26th, at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Church, 8961 Main Street, Honeoye. Burial will be held privately at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Honeoye.
