Greenwood/Hemlock: Peacefully on May 20, 2017 at age 63 years. Predeceased by his parents William & Etta (Hendrickson) Moore and his stepfather Ronald Hurd Sr. Survived by his brothers, Ronald (Tammy) Hurd Jr., Robert Hurd, and James Hurd all of Greenwood, his niece Haleigh Jane Hurd of Greenwood, and his daughter, Randi (Patrick) Smalley of Hemlock. Also survived by grandchildren, Alexis, Athena, and Alexzander.
Stephen was born on May 6, 1954 in Hornell, NY to parents William and Etta (Hendrickson) Moore. He attended and graduated from Greenwood Central School and was an accomplished athlete. He served his country in the United States Air Force and later was employed at Ingersoll Rand and also the Veterans Administration Facility in Bath. He was a member of the Greenwood American Legion where he made many friends that he considered family. There he was a bartender and cleaner and always was keeping things polished and organized. He enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed many walks on the family farm. Steve’s pride and joy were his grandchildren.
A Gathering to Celebrate Steve’s Life will be held on Sunday, June 25th, 2017 from 12noon – 5 pm at the Greenwood American Legion, 2642 Main Street, Greenwood, NY 14839. To send a condolence or share a memory please visit:

I was so sad to hear of steves passing he was a great guy i stopped at legion last august when u was up i was so glad to sit and talk to him
I went to school with steve so sad to hear of his passing i stopped at legion last year and shot some pool and talked to him i was so glad to see him hope he felt the same RIP
The legion isn’t or will it ever be the same without you there. You are missed my friend sure had a lot of good times going through school. memories last forever. Pain free now? fly high see you someday??

Rest in Peace my friend. You shall always be remembered for the way you treated us as family every time we stopped at the Legion. The friendly astmosphere, the hospitality and joking around, let everyone at the O’Mealia camp know that we had a great friend in you.
