Livonia: Peacefully on May 9, 2017, at age 92 years, at the Avon Nursing Home. Predeceased by her husband Robert J. Krest Sr. and her brother Carl Hirschman. Survived by children; Robert “Hutt” (Mary) Krest Jr., Ricky Krest (Renda Kahlil), Russell Krest, and David “Wimp” Carey. Grandson Jonathan Krest, brother-in-law Archa Krest, sisters-in-law Annie Krest & Sally Krest, many nieces & nephews, and dear friends.
Mary was an amazing person, teacher, supporter, provider, friend, and mother. Not just a mother to her three boys, but a mother to whoever came in through the door at the family home on High Street. She touched a lot of people’s lives, and made the world a little better just by being here. She will be missed by many, and some more so. She has left so many fond memories and experiences that will live forever. She was a remarkable woman, a great friend, and the best mother.
Friends may call on Saturday, May 13th, from 1-3pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 15 & 20A, Livonia, where a memorial service will follow calling hours at 3pm. Ma and Pa Krest took in many strays over the years; I was one of them. I was blessed that Ma took me under her wing as a teenager and treated me like the daughter she never had. She not only raised three boys, but myself as well. I’m truly grateful for having such a wonderful mother in-law for so many heartfelt years. May the saints be with Ma Krest.
