Conesus/Lakeville: Walter R. “Butch” Nichols, 76 years, of Conesus formerly of Lakeville, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Rochester General Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past week. Butch was born in Middletown, NY, January 2, 1940, the son of Walter R. Nichols, Sr. and Gertrude R. Burch Nichols. He was a graduate of Livonia Central School and most of his employment years were spent with Midland Asphalt Materials. For a period of time, he operated Asphalt Enterprises in Livonia. He was a member of the Lakeville United Church of Christ, a life member of the Conesus Lake Sportsmen’s Club. He had previously served on the Board of Directors of the Hemlock Fair Society.

Predeceased by parents Walter and Gertrude Nichols, brother Daniel Nichols and sister Deborah King . Butch is survived by his wife, Bardee Smith Nichols; his children, Douglas (Linda) Nichols of Elko, Nevada, Stephen (Carol) Nichols of Conesus, and Renee (Rob) Pauline of Wayland. 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. his sisters, Beverly Hughes of Livonia, and Yvonne (Charles) Woods of Rock Hill, South Carolina. several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Friends may call Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. 21 Big Tree St. Routes 15 and 20A. Livonia. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 4PM at the Lakeville United Church of Christ, Route 20A. Lakeville, NY. Spring Burial, Union Cemetery, Livonia. We are sorry to hear about your loss!I will remember Butch for the hard working and honest guy he was, In the years Bill worked for him he always treated his guys with respect even if they didn’t always deserve it lol !     you were always the greatest influence in my life my hero and my mentor . although it took many years to figure these things out i have come to know what ya meant. It has helped me become the father I am today with 3 of the best sons i could ever have and wished for. They looked to there grandfather as i did and were influential by him. there lives as mine too were helped to shape them into the men they have become. I will never forget you dad and will always love you. Love always the Nichols boys

  9. Bardee, Butch and their wonderful family have been an important part of our lives for many decades. His strength and loyalty to his family and friends is something we will always remember and admire. He was one of the smartest men we have known. We will strive to keep the wonderful memories of Butch alive as he gave us a powerful figure to know and love. Bardee, Dougie, Steve, Rene…..We love you and yours and you are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.
