Geneseo: Raymond E. VanBuren Sr. died on August 20, 2015, at age 76 years, at Highland Hospital after complications from back surgery. Ray was born on March 18, 1939 in Warsaw, NY the son of the late Doris Barry and Raymond F. VanBuren. He married Margaretmary “Pedgy” McDonald on January 9, 1960 in St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Geneseo.

Ray was a social member of the Perry V.F.W., a member of the Dansville Moose Lodge, and a Co-Cub Scout Leader. In different years he was on a bowling league. Ray enjoyed cooking and enjoyed special meals with his mother-in-law, Thelma McDonald. Ray was a member of the Rochester Carpenter’s Local 85 for almost 50 years. He was a skilled craftsman and known by many carpenters in his trade.

He is survived by his wife of 55 ½ years Pedgy (McDonald) VanBuren. Daughter, Kimberly (Anthony) Biondolillo of Mt. Morris and son, Raymond E. “Randy” (Linda) VanBuren Jr. of FL. Eight grandchildren; Jesse, Jay, Bryan, Alec, Alecia, Kate, Mariah, Rachel, and two great-grandaughters Emma & Rylee.

Friends may call Monday (Labor Day), September 7th, from 12-2pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 15 & 20A, Livonia, where a Celebration of Life Service will follow calling at 2pm. Rev. Paul Shoop will be the celebrant. A Reception will follow the service at the American Legion in Sonyea, NY and the family invites everyone to join them.     We were so sorry to hear the sad news about Ray. a long time friend. We have lots of good memories, and that’s what you need to hang on to. Herb mentioned the great times growing up in School, and the Washington Trip, as Ray, Donnie, and Herb and others of the Class had ” such a good time.” Our thoughts and prayers to you and the family.

    We usually would met Ray at Wegmans doing his shopping. Always was a good time talking with him and will miss those times.

  7. So very sorry to hear about Ray passing away. He was such a wonderful man and always very, very friendly. He always greeted you with a smile and I will never forget his laugh. He will truly be missed.
