Honeoye: Dorothy Blanche Blair, “The Pie Lady”, cherished Mother and Grandmother went home to the Lord peacefully,surrounded by her loving family on Saturday July 25, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Chili, NY, after a brief courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Baptist Hill, NY, September 17, 1929 the daughter of John and Ruth Granger DeSmidt.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, but her real passions were cooking, baking and sewing. She worked for the Town of Richmond for several years, all the while making her “boys” special treats. Once people got to know her, she quickly became their Ma or Grandma. She was always there to lend a helping hand and loved by all who knew her. Dorothy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family is grateful for all the love and support given to Dorothy during her illness, especially to Shari Allen of Lifetime Hospice and Rev. Jeri Kober of the Allens Hill Church.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Wagner (Richard Kraebel) of Chili, John (Patricia) Blair of Honeoye, Kimberly (Glenn) Richardson of Honeoye. Stepchildren, Mary (Ed) Voelker of Bloomfield, Wanda (Mike) Boyd of Springwater, Douglas (Shayne) Blair of Springwater. Special canine friend, “Max”. 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren. Sister, Marjorie Boheen of Canandaigua. Sister-in-law, Jane and Lloyd Strang of Macedon. Several nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.
Friends may call Monday 1-4 and 6-9 PM at the Allens Hill United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held on Tuesday 11 AM with Rev. Jeri Kober officiating. Burial, Lakeview Cemetery, Honeoye.
