HONEOYE: Elizabeth Frances Caskey Stumbo of Lima, died at Conesus Lake Nursing Facility in Livonia, Wednesday December 19, 2012.
Elizabeth was born September 21, 1916 in Richmond, NY to Earl & Mary Buck Caskey, both deceased. Elizabeth was married to Donald Larned Stumbo December 24, 1935 in Bristol Center by the Rev. Charles Paille. Donald died September 2, 1998.
She is survived by 4 sons: Kermit (Bobbi) Stumbo, Ashland, Illinois; W. Keith (Kathy) Stumbo, Honeoye, NY; Howard (Heidi) Stumbo Lima, NY; and Dale (Lynne) Stumbo, Lima, NY. She is also survived by granddaughters: Denise (William) Preller, Hudson, Illinois; Adair (Glen) Feather, Dunlap, Illinois; Tracy (John) Welin, Oak Park, Illinois; Marcel (Hal) Hoelzer, Mendota, Illinois; Beth (Shane) Allison, NY; Deanna (Russell) Wohlschlegel, Lima, NY; Deniel (Mark) Hinman, Canandaigua, NY; Jillian (Mitch) Breslow, Boca Raton, Florida; Nicole (Benjamin)
Rawleigh, NY; Terra (Cole) Edgett, South New Berlin, NY; grandson William (Gillian) Stumbo of Texas; 10 great-grandsons and 9 great-granddaughters. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her brothers Leo and Norman Caskey and her sister Jennie M. Sullivan.
Elizabeth graduated from Hemlock High School in 1935 where she was
vice-president of her class and a prominent female athlete lettering in baseball and basketball.
After her marriage in 1935, Elizabeth lived with her husband on a farm at Dennison’s Corners in the Town of Richmond. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her large family. When speaking of Elizabeth, her sons always noted to strangers, “You will like my mother.” Elizabeth was easy-going, uncomplaining, and kind to everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Friends may call Friday 4-7pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home 8624 Main Street, Route 20A Honeoye where services will be held Saturday at 11am. Burial at Union Cemetery, Livonia. Friends wishing may make memorial contributions to the Richmond Fire and Ambulance PO Box 469 Honeoye, NY 14471.
