010-1Sylvia L. Witter Woolston passed away on July 11, 2012. She was born on June 15, 1935 to parents Mabel L. McKenzie and Kenneth S. Witter in Geneseo. She was welcomed home by big brother Major Harold E. Witter who predeceased her on March 11, 2012. Younger siblings, Kenneth S. Witter Jr., deceased on August 17, 2001, surviving brothers Otto Clark Witter of Brockport, Harlow (Ruth) Witter of Geneseo and sister Sally A. Witter of Geneseo, many nieces and nephews. She graduated from Geneseo Central School always wanting to be a wife and mother. She got her wish while working at Katherine’s Restaurant in Geneseo when she met John E. Woolston. They were married on May 24, 1958, settling in Livonia for the entire 49 years of marriage until his death on January 24, 2007. They had four children, daughters, Brenda Lee Hettrick, spouse Alan, grandson, Michael, Bambi Lynn Woolston-Witherow, grandsons, Ryan, Patrick and Jeffrey (Megan DeWind), sons, Christopher John, Brian Jay Scott (Kim), grandchildren, Heather, Carley, Devin and Ethan. One of her greatest joys were her great grandchildren, Brooke Ann, Carter and Mayson. She was very lucky to have many special people in her life, Lori Woolston who visited often and assisted with her care, and the Lemen family who never failed to send a card.

Her first job out of her home was at Conesus Lake Nursing Home. She left only when she had the opportunity to work at Annie’s Ark Daycare Center upon its opening. This proved to be one of the highlights of her life. She worked with the babies from 1982 until 1998. She had many pictures of all the little ones she worked with over the years. Upon leaving the Ark, she was employed as a babysitter for two very special boys, Christopher and Little John and enjoyed many special times with the Wilson Family. Over the years she spoke of these many children as if they were all members of the family. To her they were her family.

She was active with the Order of the Eastern Star in Livonia for many years. She held many positions within the organization and she and John travelled much to other Districts to carry out their duties. She was a member of the United Church of Livonia where she worked with the Sunday school as well as cleaning duties with her husband.
With John’s passing in 2007, she resided at the Absolut of Houghton in Houghton, NY until October of 2011 when she moved to the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris. She remained there until her death. She was dedicated to her family putting them first above herself.
