Elizabeth Loker Foreman was born in Walton, New York October 20, 1916, the third of Caroline Dreher and George Loker’s seven children. She lived in Walton NY most of her life, marrying James Foreman in 1936. They bought her parents’ house and lived on Fancher Avenue, Jim working at the Delaware County National Bank, Betty staying home with their two daughters, then working for a literary clipping service, Kent’s Department Store, and Kent’s Gift & Card Shop. Those earnings helped send her two girls to college.
In 1970 they moved ‘up the river’ into a home overlooking a beaver pond with a great view of Bear Spring Mt and all the hills surrounding Walton. Being avid hikers, they walked in summer and snowshoed in winter. Betty loved to play golf, bridge and cards of all kinds. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoyed playing cards with her too!
When her husband died in 2001, she continued to live in Walton. In 2005 she moved to Livonia, NY where she had a new house built near her younger daughter, Sally. She had a great time making all the ‘new house’ decisions. Last fall she painted her kitchen red and bought a new car, bright blue!
Always a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Walton, she now became active in the Livonia Methodist Church, going Monday afternoons to set the tables for the girls cooking Rotary and working in the church Thrift Shop. Being an avid reader and interested in a wide variety of subjects she often walked to the library. She belonged to Curves, still drove to get her groceries, and was a determined, active woman until the time of her death. Her marvelous sense of humor will be remembered.
She is survived by her daughter Lynda MacDonald of Milton, NJ, daughter and son-in-law Sally and Ed Schubert of Livonia, her grandchildren Kevin and Brett MacDonald also of Milton NJ, Garth Perry of Fairport NY, and Megan Loiselle of Arlington VA. Also surviving are 3 great grandchildren, Ryan, Connor, and Allison; her older brother Charles Loker of Delancey, NY and several nieces and nephews.
