Springwater: At age 91, Marilyn passed away in her beloved home on Monday, December 16, 2024. She was born on July 9, 1933, in Gorham, NY to the late Henry and Gennibelle Sheppard. She is predeceased by her brothers Richard and David Sheppard. She is survived by her son, Phil Griffin, daughter, Kim (Jim) Flynn, and step-children; Cliff and Sandy Swick. Grandchildren, Ian Griffin, Peggy Downing, Kevin Flynn, and Erich Flynn, great-grandchildren, Brayden Kennedy, Landon Downing, and Owen Downing.
Well known for The Valley News, Marilyn grew this publication into the success it was, owning and operating it for the better part of 60 years. Throughout her years of hard work, Marilyn formed many great relationships with satisfied customers.
She also shared an overwhelming love for all animals. Dogs, cats, horses, goats, and many rescued wildlife alike were a big part of her life. Those who were fortunate enough to know her all loved and respected her. She will truly be missed by all.
