Brighton: Age 88, March 14, 2011. Predeceased by wife Dorothy and son Ronald. Survived by son Kenneth (Julia) of Geneseo; grandsons Mark, Robert (Alisa), Benjamin, and Ian; great grandchildren Noah and Ava; Daughter in law Catherine Hathaway; sister Patricia Ray of Mentor, OH; sisters in law Dorothy Hathaway of Ohio, June Hathaway of Indiana, brother in law Ralph Grubel of NC, many nieces and nephews including Kathy Heirigs and Beverly Switzer of Rochester.
He was a graduate of Franklin College, Franklin Indiana and Colgate Rochester Divinity School being ordained in October 1948 in the Glenville Baptist Church, Cleveland, Ohio. He received his Masters Degree in Sociology from the the University of Rochester. Rev. Bob served in several pastoral ministries in the Rochester area during his professional career including, Pastor of the First Independendent Congregational Church in Bushnells Basin, NY, Assisiant Pastor of the Central Presbyterian Church in Rochester, Pastor of the Parma Greece Christian Church from 1947 – 1957, Pastor of the Lakeville United Church of Christ 1960 – 1972, Chaplain at the Monroe County Jail and Penitentiary, Assistant Director of the Men’s Service Center, Director of Rehabilitation – Monroe County Department of Mental Health 1975- 1991 and the Director of Pastoral Care at St. John’s Home in Rochester. He served as Pastor Emeritus at both the Parma Greece UCC and the Lakeville UCC. Bob was a member of the North Greece Fire Dept., the Lakeville Fire Dept., the Livonia Masonic Lodge #778 and the North Greece coffee (cripples) club.
