  1. Tom was a good friend of both me and my wife. We have known Tom’s entire family for over fifty years. His mother and father were like parents to my wife Sherry. We will miss him dearly,
Rest in peace and God bless you.

  2. I did not know Tom well, but he will forever be attached to one of our favorite stories.
Tom worked with my BF (Tim Williams). One snowy night many years ago, Tim stopped his sled onto a partially frozen pond (he likes to say on purpose so my son didn’t follow) and sank himself and the sled. Tim made it home that night, the sled sat at the bottom of this pond for a week. I am not exactly sure how the conversation went, but Tom and his scuba gear became part of the sled rescue plan. The pond was located in the middle of a corn field and could only be seen from a new section of a housing tract: there were no drivable roads or trails to the pond. In the middle of Dec in a cut corn field, we have Tom- in this scuba gear going up and down in this cold and muddy pond trying to attach the sled.
Standing along the edge of the pond was a family friend, his 2 sons (plus their 4-wheelers), Tim, my son and myself. Well, some nosy neighbor called 911, cause the next thing you know we had firetrucks attempting to get to us. While Tom was still struggling to hook floatation devices up to the sled (muddy water made his visibility almost zero), the kids all grabbed reeds from along the edge and pretended to be fishing. The firemen did not attempt to walk out to us since we weren’t flagging them down for the body (Tom) that was bobbing in the pond. Eventually they left. An ambulance made the same attempt about 30 min later. It was a long cold day- but we got that sled out of the pond with all of the credit going to Tom.
I wish Tom’s family strength and love in this difficult time. Please reach out if you would like to see some of the pictures from that day.
