Bonita “Bonnie” C. Winhaber ~ July 28, 2023

Honeoye: At age 80, Bonnie passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2023. She was born on Feb. 9, 1943 to John and Cornelia VanDerKamp. Bonnie is survived by her brother John (Pierrette) VanDerKamp, daughters Cheryl  Winhaber and Jennifer (Rob) Winhaber, grandchildren Amanda, Brandon, Jessica, Courtney, Ethan & Kenzi, great grandchildren Owen, Riley and their father Pat, nephews Bryan and John, niece Renee, bonus grandchildren Kyle, Brodie & Sophie. She was pre-deceased by her husband Robert, sister Susan Mann, and close friend Jack Armstrong.

Bonnie was born and raised in Rochester, NY, but her heart was always in Honeoye. She spent her summers in Honeoye with her grandparents, Mary and William Pennell. She loved riding horses with her friends when she was there.

Years ago, she worked at French’s factory on the “spice line”. Bonnie was also an election inspector for many years. She was very proud to be one and enjoyed catching up with people as they came in to vote.  Sewing, playing euchre whenever she had the chance, and taking trips to QVC were a few of her favorite pastimes.

She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She would take care of them whenever needed, always went to their school functions, and even taught a couple of them how to drive!  Bonnie was always on the go. I think she spent most of her time in her car. She even had her name on her license plate.  Mom was always there to listen, no matter if it was good or bad. She would step up and take care of things when they needed to be done. Mom will be greatly missed.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, 8624 Main Street Honeoye, NY, Pastor Sue Forsythe officiating. 1. My big cousin Bonnie taught me to ride a horse on my trips to Honeoye. I’m so sorry we didn’t make our last breakfast date. Condolences to you all

  2. Brother John, daughters Jeni and Cheryl. I am so sorry for your loss and mine. I grew up with Bon, rode horses togerther during our teen years. She was wonderful and would do anything for you if possible. The last time I saw her was at our close friend’s Jane’s funeral in January. We wondered where the time went and how fast. She tried to please everyone and I would tell her it can’t be done. She would look at me and say “you have to try”.
Rest in peace my friend. You are in a far better place were there is no judgement and hate.

  3. Cheryl & Jennifer
I’m so sorry for your loss. My thoughts & prayers are with you & your families @ this time. May God bless & comfort you.
