Irondequoit/Honeoye Falls: February 9, 2011 at age 90 years at the Pinehurst Senior Living Community. He is Lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years Lillian (McAllister) Anderson. His son Colonel Gary (Anne) Anderson USMC Ret. of Stafford VA and his daughter Kim Nichols of Livonia. Grandchildren Karrie (Adam) Aycock of Fredericksburg, VA, Mark Anderson of Kansas City, MO, Justin (Sara) Nichols of Apex, NC and Kasey Nichols of Rochester. Great-grandchildren Ashleigh and Grey Aycock.
Bill was born September 13, 1920 in Rochester, NY to parents William K. Anderson Sr. and Carrie (Nilsson) Anderson.
Bill was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He served as a radioman and tank commander in the Guadalcanal and Eniwetock campaigns and was wounded on Guam. Following the war he worked in the printing industry for many years in the Rochester area, serving many companies including Kodak and Xerox. He retired as the Vice President of Sales for JR Leinen Printing Co. of Rochester NY. Bill was a member of the Printer’s Guild where he was “Man of the Year” in 1983. He was also active in many other organizations, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed boating and following many local sports.
