Shingletown, CA / Lima, NY: At age 45, Kevin passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 14, 2022 in Shingletown, CA. He was born in Rochester, NY and was formerly of Lima, NY. Kevin is predeceased by his beloved Jack Russell, Maxwell, his grandparents, Robert and Dolores Loss, Don and Wilma O’Brien, and his Uncle Dr. Robert Loss. Survived by his mother, Virginia (Dr. Robert) Knapp of Livonia; his father, Ronald (Pat) O’Brien of Lima, his brother, John (Andrea) O’Brien of Texas; his sisters, Lisa O’Brien of Livonia, Laura (Joe) Hall of Canandaigua, Jackie (Nick) Michalko of Bloomfield; his beloved niece, Ashleigh O’Brien of South Carolina; his nephews, Jonathan (Kat) O’Brien of Virginia, Christopher O’Brien of Texas, Elijah O’Brien of Texas, Mason Hall of Canandaigua, Liam Hall of Canandaigua, and Devin Thrower of South Carolina, his special aunt Cheryl (Randy) O’Brien; his best friend, Nick Manville of California; along with his many cousins and friends from all walks of life.
Kevin attended grade school at St. Agnes School in Avon and graduated from McQuaid High School in Rochester, NY. He attended University of North Carolina in Charlotte, NC for two years and then traveled the county visiting friends and siblings. Kevin served as an Aviation Electrician in the US NAVY from 2001-05 in Sicily. After leaving the service he received a degree from SUNY Brockport in aquatic biology.
Of late, Kevin worked out of Dutch Harbor, Alaska as an observer on fishing boats ascertaining the sustainability in the fishing industry. Recently he worked for US Seafoods out of the Aleutian Islands.
He had the kindest heart and was the most loyal person to those he loved. He loved camping, hiking, movies, puzzles, music, animals and his Chicago Bears.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11AM on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, 8624 Main Street in Honeoye, NY 14471 followed by a celebration of life gathering at the Lima Fire Hall, 7288 W Main Street in Lima, NY.
