Livonia: At age 58, Julie passed away with her family by her side on Sunday May 29, 2022 at her home in Livonia. She was born in Rochester, NY to the late Gary and Patricia Backus. She is survived by her devoted children Shelby Seeley (TJ Major) and Cameron (Allison) Seeley; grandchildren Caroline and Calan Seeley; siblings Greg (Tamar) Backus, Lisa (John) Backus-Butler, Shari (Mike) West, Scott (Julie) Backus, and Jennifer (Randy) Gascon, along with many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Julie grew up in South Livonia with her family and graduated from Livonia High School. She had a strong spirit and a huge heart which she shared with others through her time and cooking creations. She doted on her children, family, friends, and new acquaintances over the years.
As many people know, Julie enjoyed making all kinds of adventurous and outgoing apps, entrees, and desserts. One that she was absolutely famous for was her cheesecakes. We would like to share this recipe with those who knew and cared for her so that they can make it and think of her warmly.

Julie was a warrior to the end and will be thought of warmly by those who knew her.

Oh with such sadness I send my condolences to the Backus family. I was blessed to go from Kindergarten to Graduation in 1981 with Julie – all of my memories are so very fond.
My heart is broken for the Backus and Seeley extended family. Too young for sure. Maybe she and Danny found a pasture to get a pick up baseball game going while our parents visit. I wonder if there are cow patties in heaven. Love to all of you. Will miss you Julie.
