Gerald F. Wiesner “Jerry” – March 18, 2022

Hemlock/Spencerport:  At age 79, Jerry passed peacefully at his home on March 18, 2022.  He was born on December 9, 1942 in Rochester, NY to the late Frederick and Helen (Dougherty) Wiesner.  In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and James Wiesner.  Survived by his longtime partner, Pammy Granger and her son Jonathan Granger; sons, Stephen J. (Gina) Wiesner and Jeffrey Wiesner; grandchildren, Joey Wiesner, Tiffany Matteson, Trevor Wiesner, and Jamie Wiesner; great-granddaughter Kendall; brother David (Patti ) Wiesner; devoted caregiver Kari Cassady; also survived by nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

In the early years Jerry operated a couple successful ARCO service stations in North Greece and Spencerport, NY. During this time he found his love of auto racing, competing at local tracks in the Street Stock Division, and later helping his brother Dave get started in racing.  In the late 70’s, a full time position at the Spencerport Central schools opened up as a bus mechanic, where he had worked part time. He sold the service station and never looked back. After retiring from Spencerport Schools, he continued driving school bus part time for Livonia and Honeoye Schools. During his free time in the winter months he could often be found snowmobiling in Redfield, NY.  Whether he was tinkering in the garage or tending to his vegetable garden, he had an attention to detail that was hard to duplicate.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, March 22nd, from 3-6pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 20A, Livonia, NY where Jerry’s Funeral Service will be held at 6pm, following calling hours.  Casual dress is encouraged as that is the way he would want it.  Interment will be held privately. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held immediately following the funeral service at the Conesus Lake Sportsman’s Club, 5883 Stone Hill Road, Lakeville, NY 14480.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre Emption Road, Geneva, NY 14456.  To send a condolence or share a memory please visit:  www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

  1. Pam, Johnny and Family,

So sorry to read of Jerry’s passing. He was a good man with a big heart and bright smile. Always enjoyed having you as neighbors. Jerry’s helping hand and stories will always be remembered. And, yes, be sure to take care of the garden!!!!

  2. My deepest condolences cousins Steve and Jeff. I think of your dad often and memories of being young children at the fire house and family get togethers and the race tracks. Rest in peace Uncle Jerry.

  3. Steve, Jeff and the Weisner families. So sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. Fond memories of our North Greece families at the fire house, neighborhood gatherings, or seeing Jerry at the gas station at the corner. He has been surrounded by a wonderful loving family and friends. May you find comfort knowing he is at peace. God’s Blessings, Sheila, and family Greg, Ken and Cheryl.

  4. Growing up in Greece NY with relatives next door was a wonderful time. Not only did my father’s brother and sister liver nearby (two houses away), but my Uncle Fritz and Aunt Helen Doughtery Wiesner (Fritz was my father’s youngest sibling) lived in the family farm house and operated a farm and farm stand. Their children, my first cousins-Jim, Jerry, Joe, Jeanne, and David-were all very talented and hard-working-the boys in automotives; Jeanne as a hairdresser. But all of them liked the car racing business, including Jeanne. Their fingers were never idle, not a lazy one in the bunch. And all of them continued to love the farm business, even if it was just a house garden. As we got older and the cousins married and started their new lives and families, we didn’t see much of each other, but I never forgot them and their ties to the farm. It has been sad to see the deaths of my cousins-first Joe, then Jim, and now Jerry. I wish them the best ever heavenly experience. Jerry will be missed by his children, grandchildren, loved ones AND his Charles Wiesner cousins (all 7 of us)!
