Marie A. Zea (Blood) – December 2, 2021

Conesus Lake:  At age 65, Marie A. Zea passed on December 2, 2021, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.  She was born on October 10, 1956, to the late Lauren and Elizabeth (Flansburg) Blood.  Survived by siblings; Shirley Dildine of Hornell, Bill Blood of Kansas, and Laurenia (Matthew) Templeton of Livonia; nieces, Ashley Templeton (George Embrey) of Webster and Niki (Zack) Swank of Arkansas; nephew, James (Christine) Dildine of New York, NY; great niece, Emmaline Dildine, and great-nephew Parker Dildine; and many friends including dear friend Susan (Tim) Calkins.

Marie enjoyed spending time surrounded by friends and family. All who knew Marie would describe her as a fun loving and genuine person with a fantastic sense of humor. Marie was a strong advocate of paying it forward and making sure her loved ones were taken care of. Marie had a passion for traveling and often enjoyed picking up her nieces and taking them on “adventure days”. Marie found solitude at her home on the lake where she often hosted gatherings for friends and family. Marie retired from Monroe #1 BOCES where she worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist for many years.

Family and friends may call on Monday, December 13th, from 4-7pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 20A, Livonia, NY.  Marie’s Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, December 14th, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 6591 Richmond Mills Road, Rte 20A, Livonia, NY.  Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery, Lima, NY.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Livonia Ambulance, PO Box 8, Livonia, NY 14487 or to Golisano Children’s Hospital, PO Box 278996, Rochester, NY 14627.  To send a condolence please visit:  www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

  1. Laurenia, Ashley, Niki and Gordie ….how special each of you were to Marie! She was so fortunate to have your loving care and support over all these many (21) years I knew her as my delightful neighbor!
    What a blessing It was to be with her and share her witty humor, and engage in so much laughter! AND to witness her steady and unwavering determination to make her way home! My sincere sympathy on her loss ….to each of you and all her family and friends

  2. My husband, Dick, and I were on the Conesus Lake Association Board with Marie for many years. We always enjoyed her willingness to help out. My sincere sympathy to her family.
