John C. Cucinotta ~ September 3, 2021

Geneseo, NY:  At age 89, John passed peacefully on September 3, 2021.  He was born on May 24, 1932 in Mt. Morris, NY to the late Marco and Josephine (Sciortino) Cucinotta.  In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his siblings; Catherine, Rose, Joseph, Anthony, Peter, Michael Jr., Frank, Delores, and Francis “Willy.” Survived by his children; Michael (Mary Beth) Cucinotta of Buffalo and Kelly (Mark) Monteleone of Livonia; grandchildren, Marco, Daniel, and Loretta Cucinotta & Cara and Nina Monteleone; sister-in-law Serena Cucinotta; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Early in his career, John was a dedicated teacher at Attica, Livonia and Mt. Morris. In his later years, he was an operating engineer with the Local 832 Union of Operating Engineers. Upon his retirement, he spent winters in St. Petersburg, Florida.

No prior calling hours will be held.  John’s Funeral Mass will be held at 11am on Friday, September 10, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 46 Stanley Street, Mt. Morris, NY.  Burial to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Mt. Morris.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his extended church family at St. Matthew Church Men’s Club, PO Box 77, Livonia, NY 14487 or to the Mt.   1. We are very sorry to learn of John’s passing. We always enjoyed running into him & chatting with him. When he lived in West Sparta, we used to see him often. Keeping his family in our thoughts & prayers.

  3. I was so sorry to hear that Mr. Cucinotta had passed. I recently joined the staff of St. Matthew’s Church and he was one of the first people to welcome me. We had some nice talks where he shared his love for teaching, music and especially his family. My condolences to you all. I will miss his smile.

  4. John will be sadly missed. The Cucinotta family has our deepest sympathy and condolences. He was my best friend Willys brother. I have had the pleasure of knowing him for 65 years. He was a fine man and will forever be remembered.

    other. After college we taught together in ATTICA for three years with Carol. Our two
    families remained friends until now. I will miss him very much.

  9. I have known John all my life, His Brother Tony Married my Sister Alice, Joe was my sponsor at my Confirmation, the Cucinotta Family And the Stockings were like one big family. Wonderful people all. John’s friendship is one to be Cherished, and one I’ll keep and remember all the days of my life! My sincere condolences goes out to the Cucinotta Family and to My Niece Kathy Cucinotta Frazier.

  10. My heart is saddened to hear of Mr C’s passing. He was my 5th geade teacher and I loved him. Whenever I would run into him over the years, he always would talk about how much he loved our class. I’m sure we were special since Kathy and Jean were also in my class!   11. I had Him for 5th grade Teacher in Mt Morris. And just saw Him a few years ago here in Nunda. He always had a smile.

  13. John had a wonderful spirit. You could feel it whether he was at St Matthew’s, sharing stories about his youth, his careers, or having a Friday fish fry. John always greeted you with a smile and genuine warmth. He was proud of his family and we send our condolences to them. John will be fondly remembered and truly missed.

  14. A friend with a great sense of humor, passion for singing, and kindness shown to everyone. I enjoyed and shared many good talks about collecting, cooking, eating and teaching. He will be greatly missed by all. Rest in peace.
