Jean Thompson Harris – March 27, 2020

Honeoye/Pittsford: At age 96, Jean died peacefully surrounded by her family on March 26, 2020.  Predeceased by her husband, George F. Harris, in 2007.  She is survived by her seven children, George R. (Bonnie) Harris of East Rochester, Peter (Sue Ann) Harris of Penfield, Douglas Harris (Shelly Lister) of Rochester, Laurie (Carl) Copeland of Honeoye, John (Denine Carr) Harris of Brighton, Victoria (William Blanchard) Harris of Cambridge, MA, Priscilla (Alan) Elgersma of Cincinnati, OH , and beloved exchange student/son Carl (Susanna) Deppisch of Zurich, Switzerland, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.  Also survived by sisters, Elaine Walden of Perinton and Gail (Edward) Schmale of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and several nieces & nephews.

Jean was born in Rochester, New York on September 15, 1923 to Raymond and Esther Thompson and was a graduate of the University of Rochester. Jean was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and volunteered for many community organizations.  She spent many happy hours gardening, doting on her grandchildren, and caring for numerous family pets.

Funeral services and burial will be held privately at White Haven Memorial Park, Pittsford, NY.  A memorial service will be planned for a later date.   1. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jeans family. We were friends through St. Paul’s for many years and I have many fond memories of Jean and am proud to have considered her a good friend. She will be missed by many.

I have fond memories of spending time at the house in Rochester through my many visits over the years. Thinking of you all.
