Rochester: Peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at the age of 95. Frank was predeceased by his one truly-loving wife, Lucy Agnes (Faso) Murante in 1990; his parents Savino and Filomenia (Desino) Murante; sister, Mrs. Thomas (Christine) Meleo; and brothers Michael (Marian) and Rocco Murante. He is survived by his sons Francis (Lisa) Murante, Richard (Barbra) Murante, and Thomas Murante; grandchildren, Daniel, Megan, Matthew, and Justin; brother Edward (Barbara) Murante; cousin Pat Teora; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Frank’s surviving family and friends will always remember him as the kindest of persons, who always put others before himself. He was most devoted to his family, exemplified by his help in raising all four of his grandchildren.
Frank served our country as a Marine in the Pacific Theater during WWII (1943-1946). Upon his return, Frank played semi-professional football for three seasons with the Rochester Raiders. He then attended college to study accounting while he also played collegiate football.
In the mid-1950s, Frank became a real estate broker, but to better support his family he shifted careers and worked at Xerox for thirty years before his retirement. Soon afterward, Frank suffered the passing of his wife, Lucy Agnes. Frank found solace and much joy in his care for his grandchildren. Frank also volunteered his Friday afternoons for about fifteen years at Rochester General Hospital. Frank briefly was a member of Bojaks social club.
Friends may call Friday, June 21, 2019, from noon – 1:00 pm at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 43 Gebhardt Rd, Penfield, NY 14526, where his Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm. It was a privilege to know Frank Murante. His cheerfulness, endurance and quiet strength even in the face of serious health issues has always inspired me.
I will fondly remember Frank belting out some of his favorite songs from “ My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean” to “Ol Sole Mio”. Frank is singing in Heaven now, free from suffering and I would like to think, smiling down upon his family who loved him so so much.
