JOSEPH SAMUEL TUCHRELLO “JOE T” – December 18, 2020

AVON: Joseph Samuel Tuchrello passed away at the age of 87 on Friday December 18th, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 5, 1933 in Avon, NY; the son of James and Grace (Cicero) Tuchrello. He graduated from Livonia Central School in 1951, where he was a three-letter athlete, National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America and an American Agriculturist Award Recipient.

Joe was a farmer his whole life. He farmed with his parents and four brothers; Stanley, Michael, Anthony and Thomas on the muckland of South Lima and dairy farm in Caledonia. He went on to farm over two thousand acres in Livingston County. Best known for growing potatoes, he was a hard worker, steadfast in his love of the land; he fought hard for the rights of the American family farmer.

Joe loved and served his community. You could always find him at Minnehan’s (his office), Leisure’s or Avon Village Restaurant having breakfast and lunch with his buddies. Joe was a proud member of the Avon Lion’s Club for 48 years. He served as a past president and received both the Robert J. Uplinger Distinguished Service Award and the Melvin Jones Fellowship. He remained a faithful parishioner of St. Agnes Church in Avon for over 60 years.

Joe is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Patricia (Pat), his daughters; Grace (Robert) Abbott of Geneseo, Elizabeth (James) Welch of Florida, Patricia (Timothy) Davin of Livonia and Joanne (Matthew) Coe of New Jersey, his four grandchildren; Robert Abbott, Adam Coe, Anthony Davin and Madeline Coe, his brothers; Stanley (Pat)of Colorado, and Thomas (Linda) of Avon, his brother-in-law James (Suzi) Brandt of New Hampshire and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents; James and Grace, his brothers; Michael and Anthony, brother-in-law; Robert Brandt and nephew; David.

Memorial service will be held at a later time to be announced. Private interment will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Avon Lions Club, PO Box 295, Avon, NY 14414 or St. Agnes Church, 96 Prospect St., Avon, NY 14414.   1. Back in the mid 1980s Joe and Pat hosted a coffee hour for men of St. Agnes to talk about Notre Dame Retreat House. As a result I made 10-15 annual retreats there in the 80s and 90s. God bless Joe. Our condolences to Pat and the family.

    Just picture Joe having a toddy with my Dad and Mom….they had many good times together.

  6. My thoughts and prayers go out to Pat and the Tuchrello family at this difficult time. Joe was an amazing man and I feel blessed to have known him. I remember fondly his stopping by to chat while I was partaking of pool privileges and he always made me laugh. His down to earth ways and straight forward approach to life was always a model for me to follow. Joe left his mark on each and everyone of us who knew him. He will be missed, but he lives on in each member of his family. I will treasure my memories of him. Rest in Peace Joe.

  8. I had the pleasure of getting to know Lion Joe over the past 6 years after joining the club in Avon. I cannot recall a meeting where his smile and laugh didn’t light up the room. My condolences to his family and friends. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
