Dorothy I. Stewart “Dottie” ~ June 29, 2020

 

Livonia:  At age 76, Dottie passed on June 29, 2020 at her home.  Predeceased by her husband Larry C. “Woody” Stewart and brothers; LC, Robert, and Gilbert; and her sister Vertrice “Kit” Brown.  Survived by children; Debbie (Tom) Jerris of Livonia and Larry Stewart II of South Livonia; sisters, Peggy (Chuck) Honeycutt of Hamlet, NC and Brenda (David) Chambers of Bonham, TX; sisters-in-law, Barb Stewart, Diane Stewart, and Donna (Gene) Morsch.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and her cats Chipper and Annabelle.

Dottie was born on September 2, 1943 in Millport, Alabama to parents Robert and Iona (Vaster) St. John.  She graduated from S.D. Lee High School in 1961 and married Woody in 1962.  After Woody was honorably discharged from his service in the US Air Force they moved to Livonia, NY where they lived on Big Tree Street for many years.

Dottie enjoyed gardening, sewing, spending time on her computer, and especially time with her friends and the Golf Cart Round Up.  She could also be seen out having an occasional hot dog at Minnehans, or on a road trip shopping with friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Friday, July 10th, at Union Cemetery, Big Tree Road, Livonia, NY.  All are welcome, social distancing and face masks will be required.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston County Hospice, 2 Murray Hill Drive, Mt.   2. What a sweet, gentle soul…Dottie was a good friend to my Mom as one of the “ladies on the hill”. She was so excited about being in the birthday cart parade, celebrating Mom’s birthday! We will miss her her smile.

  4. So very sorry to hear about Dottie’s passing. We got to know her through the Livonia Seniors club and always enjoyed her company. She had a great laugh. Our sincerest condolences to her family and friends.

  8. Dottie is going to be missed very much by her “Golf Cart Friends” and all of Pine Tree Park. She was so easy going, always working that flower garden in front of the garage, frequently talked about her cats (which she left the TV on for them – when ever she left the house! – I’d kid her that’s why your electric bill is so high!!! ) A true friend – especially to her neighbor Carol – they were like peanut butter & jelly. You aren’t tired any more Dottie – be happy now that you are with Larry. My tears are telling me you will be missed so very much .

  12. Dottie I am going to miss so much that beautiful smile, giggle and accent. So many good visits we had when you would come into the office. We both wondered at times if we would upset the apple cart here. You have been such a light for Livonia – God Bless you girl! Until we meet again!
