Honeoye: Sunday, April 6, 2014 at age 90 years at the MM Ewing Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua. She was born in Canadice, NY at the home of her parents Delevan and Violet (Wood) Alger on February 15, 1924. She was a lifetime member of the Eagle Star Chapter #350 in Honeoye. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Earl T. Goodman, in 1985. Also she was predeceased by siblings George and Ellis Alger & Alberta Clawson.

South Lima: Russell L. Smith (Smitty) of South Lima, N.Y. passed away on March 31, 2014 at age 84 years. Russell was born July 17, 1929 son of the late Charles and Carrie Smith of South Lima. Russell lived his entire life in South Lima and owned/operated a produce and trucking company. Russell enjoyed hunting, classic cars, flea markets and his pets.

Russell was survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Gladys (Hayward), 3 children, David (Sally) Smith of Springwater, Linda (Steve) Futter of Livonia, and Christine (Patrick) Ireland of Winchester, VA, and his 7 grandchildren, Damon (Carrie) Smith, Dale (Cara) Smith, Matthew & Lindsay Futter, Flynn, Ryley & Bayley Ireland and 1 great grandson, Alexander David Smith. He was predeceased by 6 siblings.

Marilyn was born July 9, 1938 in Kendall New York. She graduated from Holley High School Class of 1957. She earned an Associate’s degree in Accounting from Genesee Community College. She worked at SUNY Brockport as a clerk for almost 20 years before her retirement in 2002.

Marilyn was an active member of the United Methodist Church her whole life. She was a soloist in the choir and often sang at special services for churches of all religions. For over 20 years she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a good mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.

Brockport: Milford A. Rahn of Brockport, NY and Zephyrhills, FL, age 95 at Gulfside Regional Hospice, March 22, 2014, with family at his bedside. He is survived by Doris (VanDerMeid), his wife of 68 years, daughter Carol (David Baxter) of London, England, son Douglas of Norwich, CT, three grandchildren, Joanne (Bryan) Wells, Cynthia (George) Obada and Peter, and four great-grandchildren, Gregory and Nicole Wells and Sophie and Lyvia Obada. He is predeceased by his brother Howard.

Born September 17, 1918, Milford was raised on a farm in Barre, NY. He trained as an engineer in the class of ‘42 at Rochester Atheneum and Mechanics Institute (now RIT) before serving in the 8th Army, 305th Bombardment Group, 365th Squadron during World War II. A B-17 ball turret gunner, he spent 11 months as a POW in Germany. In later years he spoke of these experiences, but in the belief that nation should not lift up sword against nation.

Milford and Doris enjoyed many years of square dancing and travelling. He was an untiring supporter of Brockport United Methodist Church, serving as trustee, lay leader, church school teacher, a leader of the major renovations in the 1960s and ingenious repairer of everything from the heating system to the organ. He will be remembered and much-missed for his warmth, sincerity and sly humor.

No calling hours. A service of remembrance will be held at the Brockport United Methodist Church at 2pm on Friday, April 4th. West Bloomfield/Hemlock: March 21, 2014 Robert T. Yatteau at age 77 years went to be with the lord. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Marjorie (McKee) Yatteau, his brothers James, Frederick and Richard Yatteau. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Ellie Yatteau, stepson Daniel (Donna) Lauffer, brothers Donald, Charles, and Russel (Patricia) Yatteau, sister Alice Eichas, and sister in-law Barbara Yatteau. Granddaughter Danielle (Brandon) Zettl and great-grandchildren Hunter & Eva Marie Zettl. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bob was born October 24, 1936 in Rochester, NY to parents Thomas & Marjorie (McKee) Yatteau. He attended Monroe High School and later was drafted for the US Army. In his time in the Army he was a medic stationed in Germany. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. Bob was a steamfitter of over 30 years and was a member of the UA Local 13, Rochester, NY. He met the love of his life, Ella Mae Oliver “Ellie”, in Hemlock, NY while she was walking her dog. They were later married on August 9, 1992. Bob was a good friend to all who loved his family and the lord.

Conway, SC: Frederick McClelland, 73 years, went home to be with our Lord, March 20, 2014. He is survived by six brothers. Fred graduated from Livonia Central High School in 1957. He attended Geneseo State College and obtained degrees from there and the University of California.

Fred served in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain while flying a B-52 during the Vietnam Conflict. He resigned his commission and became a business person in California, finally settling in Conway, South Carolina.

Honeoye Lake: Unexpectedly on March 16, 2014 at age 48. Predeceased by her father Thomas Farrell in 2011 and brother-in-law Mohsen Lachaal in 2010. Survived by her mother Mary Farrell of Honeoye, siblings; Tosh (Laurie) Farrell of Webster, Katie Farrell of Honeoye, Megan Farrell of Buffalo, Patty (Dwight) Slocum of Springwater, and Ellen (Peter Yacobucci) Farrell of Buffalo. Her beloved nieces & nephews; Caitlin, Macie, Brendan, Shane, Cormac, Brett, Erin, Tosh, Margaret, Jacob, Mia, and Rocco. She cherished the company of her extended family; including aunts, cousins, and many friends.

Mo was born on July 1, 1965 in Rochester, NY to parents Thomas & Mary Jerge Farrell. She attended Bishop Kearney High School, SUNY Geneseo, and the University of Rochester where she received her Masters Degree in Counseling and Human Development. She was a member of the SUNY Geneseo chapter of Phi Lambda Chi. As a founding member of the Trolls of G-Town, many of her life‘s greatest adventures were spent with her Troll brothers and sisters.

After graduation, she worked at Strong Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. She continued her education earning her graduate degree so she could finally reach her goal of improving the lives of the most vulnerable children in our community. As a Parent Group Leader in the Rochester Preschool Parent Program in the city school district, she found her true life’s work which revolved around the preschool children and their families serving as an advocate and helping families become integrated into their children’s educational experience.

Ken was born in Rochester, NY and attended Honeoye Falls-Lima School District where he graduated in 1968. He worked for the New York State Thruway Authority for 34 years. He married Mary Lynne Seeley on December 12, 1970. Ken and Mary Lynne have 3 daughters and 7 grandchildren. They were married for 43 wonderful years.

Ken enjoyed nature, hunting, fishing, and all wildlife. He was also a sports enthusiast and military history buff. Ken’s most treasured times were with his family and pets. His sense of humor, laughter, and love will continue on through those who loved him.

Avon: March 11, 2014 at age 56 years after a brief battle with cancer. Predeceased by his parents Lorne & Blanche Bennett, his brother Larry Bennett, and his uncle Bill Bennett. Survived by his wife Tannya Bennett of Avon, children Jamie (Rebecca Hackett) Bennett and Nichole Bennett both of Avon. Grandchildren; Lily, Dustyn, Emma, and Hana. Siblings, Joanne (Norm) Kibler of Perry, Sid (Laurie) Bennett of Batavia, Flossie (Elbert) Flint of Perry, Lloyd Bennett of Perry, Dennis Bennett of Perry, Marshall (Dawn) Bennett of Detroit, and Lisa (Duane) Beals of Perry. Pop was born in Warsaw New York on August 16th, 1957 and was raised in Perry. He married the love of his life on Valentine’s Day in 1976 and raised their two children in Avon. He loved his family and worked very hard for everything they had. He was extremely generous and had an aura about him that was literally contagious. Everyone who met him liked him, he had more friends than anyone could ever count. His favorite things in the world were motorcycles and Elvis Presley. If you talk to anyone about him they would just laugh and smile because they had heard him sing Elvis or dance like him. He owned a few different bikes before he finally got his first Harley and never strayed from them after. He organized numerous poker runs for charities including the Make a Wish Foundation and the Pluta Cancer center. He was a gentle, loving, caring man and was super strong. He worked up until he found out that he was sick. He left us a little over a month later. This shows you just how strong he really was. Working at Sweetners Plus and being himself until he was diagnosed with stage 4 advanced cancer. He will be sorely missed by his entire family although we all know that he did everything he ever could for us, even when he couldn’t do something for us, he found a way to make it happen. We all love you and are proud of you Pop, we will miss you.

Conesus: William R. “Bill” Kellogg, March 10, 2014 at home, after a lengthy battle with bladder cancer, at age 53 years. Survived by his wife Connie Kellogg of Conesus, children Daniel (Heather Martin) Kellogg of Dansville and Justin (Kristen Spadin) Kellogg of Gates. Grandchildren Taylor & Evan Kellogg. Parents Robert (Patricia) Kellogg of Conesus. Siblings Carol (Tom) Inskeep of PA and Linda (Sandy) Kellogg-Bentivegna of Greece. Grandmother Sarah Leiby of Troy, PA. Bill was an active member of the Conesus Lake Riders Motorcycle Club where he was the Sergeant At Arms for several years. He served his community as a Conesus Town Councilman for several terms. Bill retired from the Trane Company after serving 31 years as a Heating and Air Conditioning Technician, where he worked in the Central New York region. He was on the Executive Committee for the Conesus Lake Boy Scout Troop for many years. Bill was always ready to help people, he was always there for his friends and family.

Bloomfield: Dorothy E. Mang, formerly of Lancaster, died on February 28, 2014 at age 94 years. Predeceased by her parents John & Ruth Drews, husband Charles I. Mang, and grandson David M. Julio. Survived by her children; Dorothy Julio of Raleigh, NC, Barbara (Joseph) Wood of Bloomfield, and Charlene Callister of Snowflake, AZ. 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

Gordon Boothe Phillips ~ February 16, 2014

Livonia: Gordon Boothe Phillips, 78, on February 16, 2014 after a short illness, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by son, Marcus Ashley Phillips, sister, Edith Schmitt, and brother Lewis Phillips. He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Linda, who he called Will; sons Lee (Wendy) Phillips, Christopher (Victoria) Phillips, and Stacy (Ellie) Phillips. He will be remembered always by grandchildren, Tonya (Jeff) Palumbo, Mason (Allison), Blake, Blair, Holly (Aaron) Hernandez, Lauren, Katrina, and Jenna and his other grandchildren Suzi, Chrissie (Jeremiah), JP (Elena), and Nicole. Many great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister, Daphne Giampietro, and brother, Dudley Phillips. Brother-in-law, Charles (Sharon) Mason, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gordon was, in his younger years, a photographer, chemist, science teacher, and guidance counselor, but he found his true calling at about age 50 as a Paramedic. He is well known and respected in the Greater Rochester ambulance community for his skills, his humor, and his loving patient care. Gordon Phillips ambulance stories abound.

Family and friends remember him as unique and colorful and often outrageous. He made us laugh every day. He was sought out by many as a counselor, always ready to listen to problems and troubles, helping each find his or her own best pathway.

Still sharing of himself in death, according to his wishes, his body has been gifted to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Rochester Medical School.
