Allen B. Caldwell – July 14, 2017

Livonia/Pine City: July 14, 2017 at age 87 years. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia A. (Dovey) Caldwell and children; Cathryn Bergh (Rod Evans) of Elmira, Dorothy Caldwell of Elmira, Joseph (Wanda) Caldwell of Dansville, Mary (Marty) Hughes of Livonia, and Margaret (Michael) Carle of NJ. Also survived by numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren.

Al was born on April 18, 1930 in Richmond Hill, Long Island, NY to parents Charles and Viola (Allen) Caldwell. He attended Chaminade High School in Mineola, NY and later received his degree from the University of Dayton in Ohio. He served his country as a 1st LT. in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Al loved animals especially dogs. When he was young he worked with and raised Great Danes and showed them in Madison Square Garden with his father. He also helped raise and train seeing eye dogs for Guiding Eyes For the Blind and Canine Companion for Independence. He was always committed to the American Red Cross as a blood donor and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Al was a finish carpenter and built his own home where he and Pat raised their family.

Al’s Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 17th, at 10am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 6591 Richmond Mills Road, Rte 20A, Livonia, NY. Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 18th, 10am at Bath National Cemetery, with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Livingston County CNR Memorial Fund/Memory Lane, 11 Murray Hill Drive, Mt. Morris, NY 14510.     years ago. it was then and is now very special to be a part of their families life.
