Conesus: 71 years of Stage Coach Road, Conesus, NY died at her home, Tuesday, August 16, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Donna is survived by her husband of 47 years, Robert; Children, Eileen Kramer of Dansville, Tracy Potter of Williamson, Robert (Brenda) Avery of Conesus, David (Patty) Avery of Dansville. 9 grandchildren; Karen George, Kim Kramer, Michael Miller, Cortnee Potter, Taylor Potter, Jon Avery, Cody Avery, Jacob Avery, and Morgan Avery; 4 great-grandchildren, Kristen George, Johnathan Avery, Dylan Avery, and Kaydence Avery. Nieces and nephews.
Donna was born in Brockport, NY, November 2, 1939, the daughter of the Luther and Audrey Hiler Schildt. She served the Town of Conesus as both a Town Council Member and Town Supervisor, being the first female elected Town and County Supervisor. Donna was a member of the Conesus Historical Society, the Conesus Park Committee and served in countless areas of service to benefit our society. She also served as an ombudsman at Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, where she successfully advocated for an area to be devoted to hospice patients. Donna personally sponsored a hospice room in the facility in memory of her mother which is called “Audrey’s Room”. She authored her own book “To Love Life and Government–not politics”. Donna held positions at radio station YSL, wrote a column for the Clarion Newspaper, and worked for the US Postal Service at the Conesus Post Office. She was very proud to have been a part of the site selection process for the new current County Skilled Nursing Facility in Mt. Morris, which was completed in 2005.
