Geneseo: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roderick Hinerman, a beloved member of the Geneseo, NY community. At age 85, Rod passed away peacefully on March 8, 2023 at the Teresa House in Geneseo, NY. He was born in Moundsville, WV to the late Fred and Merle Hinerman. Rod will be deeply missed by his wife of 61 years, Diane, children Lisa (Scott) Bedenbaugh and Jay (Patricia) Hinerman, and his grandchildren Mara, Jake, Anna and all of those whose lives he touched.
Rod was a kind, humorous and loving person. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first. Rod had a love of sailing and his ‘boat people’, a great fish sandwich in Hawaii, and enjoying all of his friends at the Tavern or out for coffee.
There will be a celebration of his life to be announced later this year. I am saddened to hear of Rod passing. A long time member of our community along with Diane and his family. I am so glad the Teresa House could have their Angels care for all of you. I always knew water boating was so loved by Rod and Diane a wonderful horse woman and very pleasant kind person.

Rod was a true Sailor’s Sailor, as comfortable at the helm of a vessel as at the yarning table ashore. His thoughts and travels were vast and his smile infectious. We will miss our seafaring friend and wish our deepest condolences to his loving family. Following seas to you Rod and thank you.
Diane, I am so very sorry to hear of Rod’s passing.
I was so sad to hear of Rod’s passing. Some of my fondest memories as a kid involved the Hinermans and Rod was a huge part of that. My thoughts go out to Diane, Lisa, and Jay. He will be missed.
It saddened me to hear of Rod’s passing, and my thoughts go out to Diane who so dutifully cared for him during his last days. They had a wonderful marriage which I hope will comfort Diane and their children. My sincere sympathy to the Hiinerman family.
