Joanne L. Semmel (Ferrell) – May 31, 2020

Geneseo:  At age 80, Joanne passed peacefully on May 31, 2020 in Warsaw, NY.  She was born on April 29, 1940 in Warsaw, NY to the late James E. and Thelma L. (Goldthwait) Ferrell.  Joanne graduated from Perry High School in 1958.  She married Wayne G. Semmel on November 7, 1959.  Joanne retired from Livingston County Counseling Services as the Administrative Officer in May 2002.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished (my) course, I have kept my faith
2 Timothy 4:7.

Predeceased by son Roger Semmel on April 25, 2020.  Survived by her husband of 60 years, Wayne G. Semmel, son Robert (Lisa) of Leicester; daughter-in-law Cynthia of Livonia; grandchildren, James (Amanda), Joseph (Megan), Erica and Brandon; brother William (Brenda) Ferrell Sr., sister-in-law Sis Taft, brother-in-law Butch (Alice) Semmel, sister-in-law Joyce Semmel and many nieces and nephews.

  4. My deepest sympathy to Wayne and the family on Joann’s death. I knew Joann for several years when we were swimming at PT. She was a very kind and sweet lady who enjoyed having a few laughs over things when we did our lunch times. I will miss her more than you can imagine. She loved her children and grandchildren and was so proud of her whole family. May God guide you all at this difficult time.

  8. So sorry to hear of Joanne’s passing. She was a classmate of my husband,Ray. She was quite a lady.

  9. I worked with Joanne when she was up at Counseling Services. She always had a smile, a kind word, and yet worked hard to keep everything running up at that office. She was a special person who will be missed. Our condolences to the family.

    (I never knew Rob was Joanne’s son. Small world!)
