Shirley Ann Donovan Mulvaney – October 15, 2019

Conesus, NY:  9/5/1929 – 10/15/2019.  Shirley passed peacefully at home on October 15, 2019 surrounded by loving family.  We had recently celebrated her 90th birthday.

She is predeceased by husband Daniel Raymond Mulvaney in 2007, her parents Vincent and Helen Rosebrugh Donovan, her sister Sarah “Aunt Sally” Pifer, special nephews Jack Allen, Mike Mulvaney and special niece Nancy Pifer.

She is survived by her children; Marie (John) Henry of Lakeville, Ruthie (Fred) Nettnin of FL, Becky (Joe Zawadzki) Nau of Conesus/FL, Carol (Stephen) Nichols of Conesus, Margaret (Floyd) Watkins of Livonia, Daniel (Nancy) Mulvaney of Conesus, Laura (Ken) Schoonover of Conesus, and Robert (Bobbie Jo) Mulvaney of Livonia.

Grandchildren; Michelle Henry, Jen (Shane) Treuthart, Sheryl Henry (Omar Rios), John “JD” Henry (Christy Gfeller), Candy (Curtis) Gilley, Amy (Chris) Parsels, Mark (Melissa) Nau, Eric (Jesi) Nau, Josh (Sandra) Nichols, Dan (Shari) Nichols, Christopher “CJ” (Stephanie Kilsdonk)  Nichols, Sharon (John) Autry, Tory (Byron) Danis, Jessica (Zach) Eason, Kirstin Mulvaney, Don (Stephanie) Hosie, Sean (Hannah) Schoonover, Seth Schoonover (MacKenzie Derleth), Makenna Mulvaney, Matthew Mulvaney, and Madelyn Mulvaney.

Great-grandchildren; Alex, Adam, and Abby Abrey, Nick and Bailey Treuthart, Jack, Luke, and Lydia Henry, Madelyn Roome, Justin Gilley, Austin (Nancy) Gilley, Kaylee Parsels (Jordan Werthington), Sierra Parsels, Cameron Parsels, Benjamin Nau, Maeli and Liam Nau, Zoe and Gianna Nichols, AJ, Aidan, Ean, Kieran, Evan, Conlan, and Aislynn Nichols, Tyler Nichols, Eliana and Isaiah Autry, Kinley and Korbin Eason.

Great-great grandchildren;  Tony, Manny, and Danny Gilley.  Special niece and nephew MaryLee Pifer and Sam Pifer and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Shirley graduated from Geneseo Central School and Rochester Business Institute.  She worked at Fanny Farmer Candy after graduation.  She met Dan at the rehearsal for her cousin Jean’s wedding to Dan’s brother Dick.  They married in September 1950 and raised 8 children on the Farm.  After Dan lost his arm in a farm accident 60 years ago life changed.  He went to work at Industry and mom returned to the workforce when Bob started school.  She was hired by Chet Haak to work at the Security Trust bank in Livonia.  When she retired from there she went to work at Livonia Central school to handle Student Activities funds.

She was also involved with St. William’s Rosary Altar Society, St Matthew’s Martha Ministry, Greeter and Eucharistic adoration, Conesus Democrats, Livingston County Democrats, Ganeasous History Keepers, and Cemetary Association.

She loved going to lunch with the Senior Citizens, the LCS retirees, the Geneseo girls, and especially with her cousins Kay and Bob and families.

Family and friends may call on Friday, October 18th, from 4-8pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral home, 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 20A, Livonia.  Shirley’s Funeral Mass will be held at 9AM on Saturday, October 19th, at St. Matthew Church, 6591 Richmond Mills Road, Rte 20A, Livonia.  Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Conlon-Mulvaney American Legion in Conesus.  Memorials can be made to St. Matthew Church, PO Box 77, Livonia, NY 14487, Conesus Fire Department, PO Box 216, Conesus, NY 14435 or the Conlon-Mulvaney American Legion Post 1779, PO Box 155, Conesus, NY 14435.  To send a condolence or share a memory please visit:  www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

An instant, infectious smile, willingness to roll up her sleeves and get involved. She will be missed by so many.

  21. I’m so so sorry for your loss. I have so many great memories of growing up with all of you kids on the farm. The sleep overs playing baseball helping with the chores.   22. Our family always loved all of the Mulvaneys. Being old myself, I remember Shirley (and Dan, of course) when she was a young woman, just starting a family. Although I moved away and only came back home periodically, she always greeted me so warmly. And with smiles, of course. She and Dan hold a special place in my heart. May you all take comfort in the fullness of her life and in all that she gave to others.
