Marilyn L. McNicholas – September 12, 2017

Geneseo/Peru:  Born on March 10, 1926 in Oswego, NY, to Hattie (Patterson) and George Lord, who preceded her in death.  Marilyn passed peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on September 12, 2017 at age 91.

She had an Associate’s Degree in nursing and worked for a short time at Mt. Sinai Hospital, New York City. In 1951, she married “Frank” Francis McNicholas and turned in her nursing cap to raise their three children and care for both her aging mother-in-law and mother.

Marilyn was a creative and expert seamstress and had her own custom sewing business, “Draperies by Marilyn.” She designed and sewed beautiful window treatments, furniture covers and related items for home and commercial clients throughout New York State for over twenty years.

Marilyn and Frank were happily married for 57 years and enjoyed visiting their children and grandchildren, and exploring various parts of the country.  When Frank passed away in 2008, Marilyn moved out to the Rochester area to be closer to family.  She found great comfort in living out her life in her own home, sharing many happy times and events with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her cat, Jamie.

She is survived by daughters Linda (Larry) Morris of NH & Ruth (Jim) Doyle of NM, son David (Debbie) McNicholas of Conesus, grandchildren Lukas Morris, Jimmy (Heidi) Doyle, Lauren Doyle, Brandi Karr, Crystal (Shawn) Konzel, Melissa and Shannon McNicholas, and great-grandchildren River and Bridger Doyle, and Ryan and Trenton Konzel.
