Hinsdale/Allegany: Passed away after a short illness on April 2, 2016 at age 94. Predeceased by her husband Donald F. Putt Sr., her parents Arthur & Esther, and her sister Dorothy Mangel. Survived by children; Brenda (James) Kennedy of Livonia and Donald “Butch” Putt of Shinglehouse, PA. Grandchildren; Matthew (Melissa) Wolfanger, Mia Pero, Mandi (Ben) Martin, Jason (Lori) Putt, and Jamie (Drew) Horman. 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.

Martha was born on April 14, 1921 in Olean, NY to parents Arthur and Esther Boyle. She graduated from Eldred High School in 1939 and married Donald in 1941. She was the book keeper for Don’s Friendly Service Station in Olean for many years. In her later years she worked at TOPS Friendly Market in the bakery. She helped her husband Don with processing and selling honey, bailing hay, and caring for many different animals at their home. She was awarded with many trophies for her excellent bowling at the former Bowlean in Olean, NY. Martha was a wonderful, supportive wife and a devoted mother. She loved to have visitors and was a very caring, giving person. If she knew you would like something she had it became yours. It was not uncommon for her caretakers at Hurlbut Nursing Home to express that they all loved her and that she brought a ray of sunshine to their day. They enjoyed her smile.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 9th, at 3pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5590 Lake Road, Avon, NY, 14414.   1. I remember loving to jump in my dad’s truck to go and visit aunt Mick and uncle Don. You never knew what new animal they would be taking care of and how excited they would be to show you or teach you something about the animal. I spent a lot of time in the barn with their cows and taste testing the honey from the bee hives.
