  5. Tom had to leave us – whoa – that’s a tough blow. It was neither his choice
or ours and left a tremendous void sadly felt by so many. As a co-worker
of 20 years or so there’s a lot I can say about Tom. He was very sociable,
the absolute king of corny humor, cherished his friends and family especially
his wife with whom he shared many years of adoring their pets, lake sunsets,
movies, music and travel. He bragged about her cooking, was a fanatic for
football and tennis and once said he would take up golf when he got old.
Luckily he did not wait and became obsessed with the game and it’s camaraderie.
Tom was an extremely dedicated, tenacious, hard worker who ultimately got
involved in everything leading to his earning the moniker “monkey in the
middle” which he joyfully accepted along with the collection of sock monkey
gifts that followed. The children’s book, Sock Monkey Boogie Woogie,
authored ironically by Cee Cee Bell was proudly displayed in his office along
with his many other books, pictures, and brain teaser puzzles.
This was a truly well rounded, well lived and loved individual.
Row, row, row, your boat Tom. Reunite with your dearly departed. Farewell.
We will be ok, and will see you again someday…. Hopefully, far, far away.
