Ward A. Gray “Red” – August 7, 2014

Groveland: August 7, 2014 at home at age 81 years. Predeceased by his wife Judy Ann Gray. Survived by children; Larry Johnson of Groveland, Paul (Elaine) Johnson of Groveland, Kim Johnson, and Dawn Johnson. Grandchildren; Jonathan Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Larry Johnson, Adam Walker, Shanon Walker, Sean Walker, and Cameron Acker. 1 great-grandson Gavin Johnson. Nieces & nephews; Steve (Pam) Gray of VA, Pat Gray of CA, Sally (Larry) Loik of Rochester, Kevin (Cheryl) Gray of Sparta, and Colleen (Dick) Green of Perry. Cousins and many friends.

Ward A. Gray “Red” was born at home in West Sparta, NY on April 26, 1933 to parents Glenn and Blanche (Kemp) Gray. He is predeceased by his parents and 3 siblings; Walter Gray, Willard “Rusty” Gray and their sister, Jean, who died as a child. Red was a life long hunter and fisherman….he loved the outdoors. He was a past member at the Dansville Fish & Game and also a past member of the Power’s Inn. Red was a janitor at the Groveland School before it centralized to Geneseo. He then was a welder at Foster Wheeler in Dansville for many years. He loved to teach kid’s to fish anywhere but especially the pond at his house.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Gathering on Saturday, August 16th, at 12noon, at Red’s Home, 7411 Bean Hill Road, Groveland, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dansville Fish & Game Club, Gibson St., Dansville, NY 14437. Arrangements entrusted to the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., Livonia-Honeoye.
