  1. After meeting Mr Contos our many talks about ham-radio’s (which my dad had and loved) I found him a gentle soul with so much to share of communications of the past (my father would have loved to have known him, I loved listening to him – then the treats of treats was the fresh pears from his trees which were marvelous along with more dicussions. I am honored to have known him.

  2. I’ve met Mike on numerous occasions at his friend’s home, Pat and Lynn Parkhouse. Mike was a quiet, soft-spoken man who would open up when you broached a subject that he had knowledge about and would willingly share his thoughts. I think what Mike enjoyed most was the opportunity for a “home-cooked meal” with his friends. Rest in peace.

  3. Sad to learn about Mike. He was a hard person to know well but a shared interest or project brought out the best in him. I worked with him for many years at the AWA Museum and found him to be very generous in sharing his knowledge and evidently had great resources of information tucked away in his houses and out buildings on his property. I hope those resources are not lost forever. The loss of Mike, his generosity, his great wealth of knowledge in matters of technological history and his rare but effectuous laugh and smile are traits that will be missed by all who knew him.

  4. Mike was a unique individual who enjoyed deeply pursuing many interests in the fields of radio and audio recording. He loved his rural home and property with its many trails. his house was filled with the electronic equipment of his hobbies, and he devoted a lot of his time to the radio museum of the AWA in Bloomfield. Mike was generous with his knowledge, his assorted equipment, and his friendship, and will be missed.
